Lucero is a real band. Real friendships. And real music. They make me feel real again. It isn't the drama or the sad stuff, its the way they seem to make music so breathtaking and sincere. Its great

My now ex wife introduced me to this group when we first met, she loved "My best girl" and played it constantly. Ironic, going through our divorce I listened to this group more and more and memorized the lyrics to their songs trying to deal with life and the hole in my life while staring at the bottom of a never ending empty bottle. Its like Bens lyrics express a side to everyone, everything pent up inside that you either can't or won't let out, and things get better. Not necessarily easier, but better. And if you keep chugging along, one day you will find that you accomplished things you never thought you would actually achieve while your life went on.

It does get better and it does get worse. I guess you just take each part of those and build your life, each step away and toward. Just found this band at a step for me. That’s the grace of music. It gives us that chance. Good graces to you.

Yeah but maybe that's what keeps them cool. Sadly, look at Lucinda Williams, The Hold Steady and Frank Turner. True gems.

By far the best band around. Ben is unparalleled in his lyrics and vocal expression. If only we could aspire to be half as great. Lucero is literally a class of their own.

I see your face when I close my eyes. I hear your name when the wind's just right. The setting sun is gone once more. Each night is worse than the night before. Now I can't stand to leave you, I can't take the weight of this world on my own. And I don't know what I'll do, I don't think that I can make it all alone. They say all can heal with time That don't mean much to me tonight Like city streets your eyes shine And I'm lost out here with the losing kind And I can't stand to leave you I can't take the weight of this world on my own. I don't know what I'll do I don't think that I can make it all alone Yes, I've felt this kinda pain. A hole straight through my chest. Yes, I've felt this kinda pain. Seems now it's all that's left. It was always there never far away. Seems now it's all that's left. Every song I hear. Your voice sings. The words are clear. Come back to me. Come back to me, my only one. Come back to me. Your work is done. I can't stand to leave you I can't take the weight of this world on my own. And I don't know what I'll do I don't think that I can make it all alone.

I'm going through a custody battle and when I hear this song all I can think about it losing my daughter and her being somewhere that I can't control. Her bio dad isn't the one doing this, this is my own sister who has wanted this child since conception. I'm not a drug user and she's happy where she is. We struggle but she has everything she needs. I feel so much pain at the thought of her being gone. I can't stand leaving her or being away from her in any way. I've made mistakes but she is my world and I feel so empty without her. I'm pretty sure this song is about a significant other but my perception is, this is about losing someone close and she's the closest thing I have.
