I needed this design today. Nothing beading was going right until this. I used a small, flat, clear acrylic button inside my starfish to puff it out a little. I picked them up at Walmart ages ago. It's a perfect fit. Thanks Kelly :)

This was fun Kelly. Thanks. I used 11/0 and 15/0 (what I had on hand). I put a 4mm “Pearl” in the center before seeing the two sides together to keep it from flattening out. Works pretty well. I made the bail out of 15/0s… very fiddley but worth the effort. I’ll post a pic on the FB group - - - if we ever get any sun!

This has been so much fun! Excellent video! I've made 5 so far, 3 in 11/0 and 15/0 beads and 2 in the size beads of your tutorial. I like them so well that I ordered one of your kits plus more beads in other colors to make a few more. I placed the order Saturday morning and assumed it wasn't going to processed until after Memorial Day weekend but to my amazement I received a ship confirm later that day!!! WOW!

Thanks for this tutorial. Living on the Great Barrier Reef believe me when I say you don't need any padding in this pendant but ensure your keep your tension tight. I used 6lb fireline. My husband works at Reef HQ which is a GBR education centre. My starfish is very realistic. I used variegated white size 8.0s. Just love this. I can see the need to be making these for friends and family once they see mine. I will need to get size 15.0s for the earrings.

This is really cute!! And just in time. My husband and I go to Jekyll Island every year for our wedding anniversary. I think I'll make a set to wear while we're on the island. But instead of 8's and 11's, I'll substitute 11's and 15's to make earrings. Thanks Kelly!! I've made so many of your projects using my bead stash, I'm running out of shoe boxes to put them in. You really are a great and patient teacher! ( P.S. My family loves to go through my shoe boxes and pick something out to take home with them.)

Kelly, I have to say that this is not only fun and easy but inspiring too. That bale can be used on other pendants. I am making my star fish in Christmas colors and in size 11 delicas and size 15 seed beads. It is so pretty. Thank you for sharing this with us. Merry Christmas my little one.

Been having a blast making these (and earrings) with so many different colors, but on a whim, i tried it with some 10/0 Delicas instead of the 11/0's and they came out great, too! Plus, with the 10's, you can really use almost any size needle (I have an unnaturally large supply of #10 needles, but not nearly as many #11's and #12's for some reason). I'm now going to try with the 10/0's and 15/0's next, just to see if it works and how different the sizes come out to be.

Carla Bellini Check the shape of your seed beads. The more rounded seed beads allow for a softer fitting than the ones with straighter sides.
