Hey Matt, the pond is looking awesome. But, if you want it to be a good water source for the wild life, it would be beneficial to put in an aerator.

Hello Matt, Research ECM exchange companies online if it turns out the ECM on the truck is bad. It is much cheaper than purchasing a new one. They will program one of their ECMs with your truck's VIN and send you a programmed ECM as long as you send the old one to them. I've used this service in the past and many companies offer a lifetime warranty on their ECMs.

Hey brotha, you're going to want to install a breaker or some type of circuit protection for the winch power feed. God forbid it shorts its going to burn until either the cable burns through or worse. It happened to one of our new customers who was utilizing those style connectors to jump start vehicles. A stereo shop built the truck originally for free. We had to re-wire the whole SWAT vehicle after the dealership replaced multiple factory harnesses that were damaged in the fire. As others mentioned, you'll want to avoid using the clamps for any period of time, the resistance will build and you'll feel the power cables get warm/hot. Best of luck!

Welcome to dump truck ownership. Before long you’ll see a $4000 bill and go ‘whew, that could have been much worse’. It’s almost as bad as having a boat. That’s basically the exact same winch setup I use. I even added a receiver to my trailer. I do only have one set of cables though with jumper cable clamps. I do still have a quick connect though for ease of storage.

Another great use of a hitch mounted winch like this is , weld a receiver on the front of any flatbed trailers you have to winch items up onto the trailer. Pro Tip, You may want to have that winch mount beefed up a bit.. if your really pushing them, many of them will twist and that in turn will destroy your winch.
@chrlsraines
@chrlsraines 10 ай бұрын
If you went a few steps further and done it right. You could install the “Anderson Plugs” on each vehicle you plan to use winch on (just like you did on “Earl”), then make a set of one Ned cable clamps one end Anderson plug (or Quick connect/disconnect plugs) like they do on tow trucks. And modern vehicles since ‘96 or ‘98 all have a power block between the battery and starter/alternator hook ups, so you don’t even have to “mod” the battery clamps to hook up directly to battery and still be always hot. A tow truck never has to pop the hood or open its battery compartment to “jump off” another vehicle.

The starter motor on an engine is ran from the factory in a way that is VERY secure, AND it is typically ran inside protective tubing to prevent any shorts. This is a COMPLETELY different ball of wax and is like comparing apples and oranges. I’ve seen a couple of car fires, and a lot of melted wires due to no fusing. Hey Matt i think you definitely need a big 4in1 bucket for your bobcat as it will help with grading and being able to scoop and pick things up alot easier😊

Pro tip. You just need to connect the negative to the frame.
@randybehrmann5454
@randybehrmann5454 11 ай бұрын
Disagree. The frame takes the place of the negative wire and just is a different path back to the battery. With the dedicated negative wire, it takes the load off of the vehicle grounding system.

@@randybehrmann5454 you're not wrong, but if you aren't using the which all that much there will be little effect.

Matt consider getting a metaldetector! Any lost GoPro's, jewelry, tools, etc. will be just a beep away, even if it got buried. Maybe even get a waterproof one, so you can find things people might lose in the river. There's plenty of american youtubers you could message, if you need some advice on which one would be right for the resort

I have the exact set up for my winch, it is for my trailer but I ran dedicated leads to the rear of my truck for power. In the front I have the same connector, and then I have a set of jumper cables with the connector set up so I can use it with anything with a hitch and battery. It is SUPER useful. I did learn that red and grey connectors are not the same...

It’s a small pond, adding catfish to it will eventually turn into just a catfish pond. They are highly predatory fish. My great G paws pond had the same fish you mentioned. It took about 15 years and it was all catfish. The last known bass was caught in ‘77.

Do crappies and catfish. Easy for kids to catch, low maintenance and will take care of all the bugs. Might not be deep enough for bass during the summer.
