Matt you need to start maping those woods. When you eventually get to redoing the woodland activities you NEED TO BRAND EACH THING. That way you can have the disclaimer "we are trying to locate and replace various structures throughout the woods, any structures that we have remodeled and are certified 'safe' will be branded with our insignia. Please report any unbranded/unmarked structures to the office." Protect yourself in case someone finds some old thing first so they don't get hurt!

All of the telephone poles are called pamper poles (worked at a camp that had them) the person belaying uses the rope running through those smaller poles to relieve some of the weight. The climber goes up the one pole and tries to stand on the top (hardest part) then jumps to the trapeze! One of my favorite high ropes activities!!!

I’ve never seen Matt fail at ANYTHING he tries. I’m worried that this old Resort may be the biggest challenge. Not just rebuilding this resort, but things have changed so much. New Braunfels/Canyon Lake area has grown to be the epicenter of water fun in Central Texas. He HAS to build RV spots as it seems everyone has an RV nowadays. This place is kind of “remote” for todays society with no stores or restaurants/shopping around or nearby. Now School year ends in June and starts back in the first week or so of August, which shortens vacation season. This is a big undertaking, and if pulled off, Matt would be the one guy who could do it. We are pulling for you and the resurrection of the old place, went their 30 plus years ago and it was in need of updating then. Now it’s so dang hot in Texas, I don’t know if their is enough water in this property for everyone. Maybe build a water park of some sort with pools? Good luck and keep going

The Pensacola monolithic dome home in Florida has survived multiple major hurricanes (including Katrina) with only cosmetic damage and is the only home to have done so on the beachfront. As these domes are constructed from Shotcrete, they're fireproof, hurricane/tornado-proof, termite proof and - to a large extent - bulletproof. The company that sells these is located in Italy, Texas. The physics behind the design is rather simple - curved walls divert strong winds around the building rather than slamming into a flat wall.

all over in Germany there are exercise trails throughout the forests. They are trails of various lengths, clearly marked with arrow signs along the trees and those trails have different stations with various exercises. The exercises are described on signs and most of the exercise equipment is simple and made from natural materials, such as trees and metal ropes, chains, etc. There are bars for pushups or pullups, balance beams, short posts in the ground for steps etc. I think that corner you showed today might be a great idea for an all natural exercise and workout trail because people do like to exercise outside instead of being in a monkey cage type of gym with 5 treadmills lined up in a row.

Matt, some of that area would be perfect for platform tents. I used to counsel 3rd & 4th graders at church camp and we were way back in the woods in the campsite we had tents in our area that looked like old stagecoaches and it was cool. We even had about 4 steps to get up into it. Each site had a different type of tent on the different sites. We were far enough away from the other sites that we could not see or hear much from the other sites either. We also had a bear that made its nightly stroll through the campsites looking for food. It was kind of scary because he was always sniffing around things and one night the kids were all in their tents and sleeping and it came to my tent sniffing around and I was scared half to death. Of course, the skunks and raccoons came around all the time too. The tents were VERY heavy canvas and all different. Just a thought.

You had two courses. A low course and hogh course. Low course was used to teach the ropes and spotting skills, and then the high course was used to build self confidence. Tree based courses like yours are high maintenance because you have to be careful not to kill the tree. Also, insurance due to liability, got very expensive. I could explain somenof the other pieces if I were down there and could see it in person. You could rebuild the low course and create a corporate retreat to build teamwork. Usually they are either 3 day or 5 day courses. A course that size would probably need a director and half a dozen to dozen instructors. Each platform would have an instructor, plus ground support between a couple of platforms. Theres a couple of national organizations to certify a course, but based on age, tear it all out and start over

You could easily make some multi-use trails like you mentioned. With that, you could also have Bunker Branding sponsored trail races and mountain bike races. The mountain bike race would be fairly easy to host, especially with places to camp on property, which is not uncommon at a lot of events. 🤔

Reach out to Camp Eagle in Round Rock and see who they work with for their ropes and zip courses… Would be awesome for your local youth/teen groups to have a place like that closer to home!

Underground utilities would be great. Can’t get enough videos of this place. A place you take your family year after year. It becomes a tradition.

I wonder if they might have problems with rock.

Underground in this terrain can be a problem and costs more money$$$$

Those low cables next to the ground are for a low ropes course. They are used for team/trust building exercises. And those 6ft tallish poles in the ground, check for 2-3 sets of wholes going through them, those should be rope anchors

looks like an old Boy Scout Rope Course and primitive camping sites for sure That is called the Leap Of Faith We always would do that at camp. You may talk to local scout troop and the OA for the area would come out and referb that stuff and as well as make trails out there That would be a great Eagle Scout project at well.

Having facilitated a High ropes and Low ropes course, a lot of those seemingly incomplete low ropes areas were probably team building stations with objectives like to use three boards to get everyone across or something similar to that. It looks random until an instructor gives a team of people rules and objectives.

11:20 - you don't own a side-by-side? dang. 24:50 - I kind of hate to see the cinderblock walls coming down. It's amazing how well that smooth-rendering process was intact. that was fun going through that building to see waht was intact and what was not. 28:10 - it looks like someone was squatting in this building, but it looks like they were using a giant oil-boiling cooker inside that room. . . 28:30 - it that a cast-iron skillet hanging on that wall? generally, I like buildings with basements or at least buildings built on a slab. When I see a crawlspace under a building I generally feel like it is junk. Great work, sir! Thanks for sharing your excellent adventure with us mere mortals!

That land just gets better the more that is revealed. So much potential! I'm surprised there aren't more photos floating around of that place in its prime. Could make for an interesting coffee table book of stories and photos.

Matt everyone wears a harness with a trolly on it and it just clips on to the cable no need to bring the trolly back up the cable also you will need certified Zipline operators to get it back up and running
