Arto Saari puts it best... "They call us professional skateboarders but we spend half our time on the ground trying to get up..." Slams are a big part of skating-- if you don't slam you aren't trying hard enough.

I had a top to bottom slam today. I do these fakie hang up (fakie lips without sliding.) To tuck knee pull ins. They feel good and are usually pretty easy. I was going for one on a six foot quarter pipe and next thing I knew I was falling to the flat. Hit my knee, hit my elbow, almost hit my head, and I rolled my foot really bad. Hanging up sucks!

Injuries Which I sustained skateboarding, snowboarding, playing rugby in college, running ultra marathons in my late 30's, and working in construction for 16 years slow me down if I push too hard. but I dont let it stop me from loving every blessed minute I get to shred the concrete. i suggest you cast aside your fear of limitation buy a new set up and go rip!

I have had some really bad slams where I couldn't go to work the next day but fortunately never had surgery or been fucked for weeks. A couple where I nearly passed out. For me, I didn't really get into the session until I had blood on my shirt. All part of game. The rush. Adrenaline. GIANT INFECTED SPLINTERS from the vert ramp. Then we all bucked up to reply the ramp. And start over.
