Not a real lot of difference other than active 3 has had more time to prove itself. I've used one every day since they hit the market. Im very happy with its performance.

Depends on the model!!! Only the Enterprise and Global versions will allow you pop in your old Nano sim card and use it like a regular phone. The model x308U (sell mainly in the USA(?)) won't let you do it straightforward like that... though you can find other ways with the phone to make phone calls.

Depends on the model... The Enterprise and Global versions will let you pop in your old Nano sim straight forward and use it like a regular phone. But Model SM X308U won't let you make calls directly off of the sim... but you probably can find other ways around it, which can be unpleasant.
