SUP Y'ALL?! I believe I am NOW finishing up Dreamcatcher's Nightmare series (I could be wrong again...🤔). I absolutely loved these videos and the songs seem to have slightly either transitioned into something different or has added a new subtle element. I could also be thinking too much.🤪 I feel like I talked even more in this post-reaction, my mind was thinking as far back as HIGH SCHOOL hahaha for a certain subject I remember from then, which these videos made me think of now...

PPS. some quick 411 about me:
- I'm Cambodian and Chinese.
- I was born in November of 1983 (so I'll be 37 this year) and raised in Houston, TX.
- "OG KPOP STAN": I've always used the term "OG" (supposedly "original gangster") to define being old-school, and I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Kpop was my coping mechanism from the bullying I experienced in my younger years and it's just stuck by me ever since.
- I was a hiphop dancer for about 7 years. I did the whole crew thing, auditioning thing, competition thing, choreography thing, dance instructor thing, so I have some experience in that field and I hope to be able to share some perspective from my experiences for y'all to see the extra things that I appreciate about a video when I point them out.
-My videos can have quite a lot of cuts in editing and/or my eyes will unnaturally blink rapidly sometimes. This is because of my neurological disease that came with my lupus nephritis (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome). My thinking abilities and speaking abilities struggle to align at times.

Here's my notes on the second Nightmare Series arc. Modern Nightmare Arc: 1. What - After the events of You and I, the girls split apart but find themselves drawn into a modern city, which transforms them into modern nightmares. Jiu, still wracked by guilt in not being able to save Yoohyeon in You and I eventually finds the Nightmare Book that Yoohyeon dropped at the very end of Good Night. At the end, Yoohyeon makes her presence known because of the Piri, which leads us into... 2. Piri - Within the alternate dimension the Spider Queen cursed Yoohyeon in, she finds a Piri, which she uses to direct Jiu in What to use the book to rescue her. The entire group goes into the alternate dimension and confront their fears. Jiu finds Yoohyeon, the girls reunite, but they are all trapped in the alternate dimension. 2. Breaking Out - An alternate telling of Piri's story. The difference this time is the Red String of Fate binding the girls together instead of the Piri. Their feelings for each other and the String of Fate helps them find each other and ultimately break out of the alternate dimension.

You'd have to ask Leez and Ollounder about the story since they created it. Unfortunately, like a lot of creative people they are very shy and so far have almost completely avoided becoming known to the public. There is a single clip of them having lunch with Dreamcatcher and it took a lot of teasing to get them on camera, and Ollounder was especially reluctant to show his face.

There's an alternative end to the nightmare series, but a Japanese release, Breaking Out. So in my opinion, Piri is the main ending, while Breaking Out is an alternative ending. For Piri in the song serves as a warning to all of them of an emergency situation.

I heard in some interviews of dreamcacther , the piri flute sound is S.O.S massage ..asking for help ..from yohyeon ( she trap alone ,from you and I /what MV story line )to the other members.

Wouah really nice theory. Many InSomnias also said their Japanese song "Breaking Out" is the real ending of this nightmare/lucid dream arc. 🤯🤯🤯 I think as Dreamcatcher didn't really release official statements on the whole storyline, any theory is valid. Anyway, you should also check their dance practices for the songs you already reacted to in the future. 🙏 Their songs have really great intros. Thanks for the reaction as usual! 💜

Since Breaking Out and Piri's white rooms look very much alike, a lot of us are convinced they're alternate endings to the Modern Nightmare arc. The Piri being the theme of...Piri of course and the Red String of Fate being the theme of Breaking Out.

Being alone is the story in What. The mini album that What was on was titled “Alone In The City.” You are real good at figuring out the story, especially on the first time. I had to look it up for me to figure it out. Cant wait for you to analyze Deja Vu. To me it was one of the more confusing storylines.

Being NOT a real kpop stan and more of a metalhead/rocker slash bassist, Piri was the trigger that made me pull it and vaulted me into this Deukae universe all the way till Chase Me before their "S" (special) and "J"-sides (Japanese releases). Needless to say that since then I'm totally convinced that Dreamcatcher is the only game in kpop that's out to change or even save it. Thank you again so much for having reacted to this 2 gems and there's also the S+J-sides and also dance practices (try dance practice 03 😏) for you to look into.

I know that it's completely upto one's perception, and there is no real right answer, but I actually think your theory is quite spot on. Under the pretense that Piri and Breaking Out being two different endings, I feel that It applies to my life quite accurately, and your mention that this links to mental health is also something I agree a lot with. My life right now feels very much like Piri - being constricted by mental health, and skipping over things I need to do to get better because of fear and anxiety, hiding, opening my eyes and nothing has changed, RELYING on others for me to get better, and inevitably when nobody comes, I am left looking at the many clocks, all the time that has passed, (I am 20) and I am still in this nightmare. Breaking Out is like the good ending (or just individual victories if it helps), Even if that someone, that voice trying to block the way, whispering to me that no matter how far I progress, I will never escape the distorted/twisted reality (of Piri) I break out of this 'dark night', believing in my heart, screaming "I will overcome" and attempting to 'break out' of this nightmare. Something interesting about that message is the reality that there will *always* be crossroads there will never be 'breaking out of the nightmare' forever with mental health issues. But it's the process of meeting those crossroads, and 'Breaking Out' of the cycle of Piri, even just once, one victory in the bag to progress a little bit, and many times Piri will convince you that your progression means nothing and you will succumb to the nightmare, succumb to failure, Fall into that dark night. A concept that many people with mental health issues know very well. But as long as you continue to walk that road to the next crossroads, you will always have more opportunities.

A brief synopsis for What and Piri. For a brief synopsis of the previous Nightmare Arc videos, see thinacious's reaction for Good Night and You and I here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/raXPoYxsi6lppNE Note: (C&P from my previous synopsis) I'm going to try to keep to the key points in the story here, for 2 reasons. One, it's always more fun if you try to figure out all the little details yourself. The second reason is that I don't want this to turn into a 92 page dissertation on my take of the story. Trust me, this could turn into a real novel if I didn't rein myself in. Also, keep in mind that outside of some key points there is no 'official' story. According to interviews and etc, they have purposefully kept the story vague so that we, the fans, can come up with our own interpretation of the story. So here goes... Okay, on to What... In this video we see 6 of the members in the 'real world', but they are currently separated as thinacious points out. All but Yoohyeon, that is. She, as we learned from You And I, is still stuck in the nightmare. In one scene we see her in a doorway, then she kind of glitches out and disappears. We also see her on a rooftop as a sort of apparition. She is the only one who is portrayed in this manner. All of the other members are solid, real, corporeal (however you want to describe it) in the video. Piri... As you said, 'piri' literally translates to 'pipe'. When speaking about musical instruments, the word piri has 2 meanings. The first meaning is a general reference to any sort of pipe-like wind instrument, such as a set of pan pipes, a western flute, a recorder or even a hollowed out animal horn. The other meaning is a specific reference to a Korean double reeded flute. Based on information given during an interview with Dreamcatcher, the piri, in this case, refers to the animal horn we see on the chair at the beginning of the video. Traditionally Korean soldiers would carry a piri and use it to sound the alarm or call for help. This is the purpose of the piri in this song / MV, as referenced by the lyrics "Blow the piri" and "emergency emergency!". At the start of the video we see Yoohyeon is alone in a stark, white room which represents the nightmare realm. She picks up the piri from the chair and we hear a blaring sound which represents the piri calling to the other members so they can come rescue Yoohyeon. However, instead of freeing Yoohyeon each member is dragged, one by one, back into the nightmare. By the end of the video we see all seven members in the same stark, white room where we started, together again, trapped in the nightmare.

The actualy ending of the nightmare story is in their japanese song "Breaking out" (tho keep in mind people usually has copyright problems with japanese songs, so be aware), tho I remember JiU (DC's leader) saying something like they never actually able to escape the "nightmare world", so maybe Breaking out is just a "what if" scenario (kinda like comics).

What was my favorite title track, but than BOCA dropped. Like someone mentioned before it's true that some say Breaking Out (Japanese Release) is the last in the series, but to be honest I don't think so because that song was not promoted in Korea. I don't know, I feel like Breaking Out definitely has an alternate ending feel to it for the Nightmare series. It mirrors Piri in many ways. But, after You and I the series becomes very vague so it really is up for interpretation. ^_^

Breaking Out, their japanese single, up for debate whether its part or not of Nightmare series. i believe it is, if you are familiar with chinese 'Red Thread of Fate' folklore popular in lots of east asian countries too, it offers a nice conclusion resolution to the Nightmare.
