Beautiful story. Assisting a man isn’t bad, but when you do everything it’s bad. Her mother only expressed her pain, it was left for somto to be nice knowing fully well her husband wasn’t her father.

Omalicha you made a big blunder in this story ooo. Men ask for the bride price that they paid back...not return it...they ask for it to be returned to them as a way of ending the marriage. Not the other way round. @AfricanTalesByOmalicha

Finances in a marriage should be equal. If one makes more then, they can cater to the bigger expenses of the family. Whoever makes less can either save for investments of the family, cater for the emergency fund of the family or cater to the smaller expenses of the family. Coz all money in the marriage is our money. If some couples choose to have a joint account for all the bills n separate accounts for personal expenses thats fine too. Working together is easier than against each other in a marriage. If one person is the bread winner, n the income is not enough, then you minimize expenses to spend on needs vs wants. If the income is surplus then you make a budget that works best for the family. Ladies some of you need to be fair sometimes coz when the guy is the bread winner n his money is Our money for the family fully, then do the same if it's you that is the bread winner till he gets back on his feet. Great story 👏🏾 👌🏾 👍🏾 🙌🏾

This mother is a very bad teacher, even though you went through such in the hands of your husband, you shouldn't teach such to your daughters. God created women to be supporters, there's nothing bad in 50/50 if the woman has something doing . Nice one Oma🎉🎉😢

I believe it's a man's job to take care of his home but if he falls on hard times it is the woman's job to shoulder that. That's something I always say when I get asked the 50/50 question

Have a little sympathy, somto’s mom carried the finances of the whole house so that fear she passed to her daughter. Understand that a lot of what people do are sometimes trauma responses. Somto’s mom is wrong in her advice, but that advice is a trauma response. If therapy was a huge thing at Nigeria she should’ve been encouraged to get therapy

Isn't it something how the advice that her mother gave her that she took to heart literally back fired because she should married her husband not her mother also marriage is for richer or for poorer if your husband hits a rough patch and after taking care of you for years the least you can do is be there for him

No, just because a man needs a little assistance from his wife does not make him a lazy man. His wife is a help so she is there for that purpose. Yes, the man should pay all the bills, but if he needs help, the wife should be able to step in and help him without murmuring and complaining

I love your stories Omalicha. I love your voice and the originality of your stories but i have some reservations about most of them. I don't know if its just me but i realized that 90% of your stories portray women as bad people. I know its all a work of fiction though but that's just my observation and apart from this, you're one of the people i enjoy listening to on KZbin ❤.

I think it has to do with the culture of the people. In some traditions, it's the pride of a man and his responsibility to provide completely for the home. But in this our time and era, if a woman has her own income, there is no harm in contributing if the man needs it. For a man who has been nothing but truly good to you, i think helping him when he is down would be really nice. I think not having money of your own and having to depend on another person is enough discomfort to motivate a person if he's hardworking. She could have given him food, shelter and basic necessity, and supported the girls at bare minimum for the time being. If she truly loved him, with all the properties in her possession, she could have sold one, and given him the money to invest.

That womans mother is her undoing. And the bitterness she poured into her child to keep pouring. Wickedness can't down. There is nothing wrong with helping your partner not be a doormat but help. That same man who works like a donkey to upkeep your family should also be given love, help and respect. Waste gal her mother is just as wicked. Everything he gave her to build should have crumbled like wet sand!! divorce that rebuild and dash her away so far that not even beggers will show her kindness.
