This is pretty cool. I've been there a couple times in recent years. Since then they've exchanged the SP and Maesrsk diesel for a NKP diesel. They've also repainted 26 and that SP next to it.

0:55 That's one of only two UP turbines left! I've seen the other one at the Illinois Railway Museum! 1:56 Rio grande 5371 was one of the last un-patched D&RGW locos to run on Union Pacific! it came to this museum in 2009! 2:25 I didn't know they had a Santa Fe Alco! Did the ATSF ever run near Odgen? 2:28 so it isn't really an ATSF loco! Do any of their SD50M-3s survive? 2:34 I'm glad the olympic torch torch car survives! the two Olympic locos, numbers 2001 and 2002, are still running in the special blue paint! 3:55 what railroad owned that steam loco, and what was its number? 3:59 at least the Daylight paint 231 and an SDP40F survive here! 4:10 is that the sound of a Utah FrontRunner in the background, or just sound added later? 4:20 that locomotive used to be at the Doyle McCormack rail museum in Portland! did it ever run with 4449? 5:40 that wigwag is missing its important swinging light!

Also, the locomotive at 3:55 is D&RGW 223, one of only two surviving locomotives from the Grant Locomotive Works. It us currently under restoration, which is why the boiler is the only thing outside. The tender, running gear, cab and appliances are all inside the restoration shop. The goal is to have it under steam by 2019. Regarding the ex-Amtrak locomotives, while they were stored at the Age of Steam roundhouse in Oregon, they were never owned by Doyle McCormack. They are owned by Dynamic Rail Preservation and are under restoration to their original appearance.

Sadly the plan to return 223 to steam in time for 2019 didn’t work

Let me put it this way. For half a century, at 8,500 HP, they were the most powerful locomotives to use a combustion system. The only locomotives that ever managed to beat them in that category were the USSR (Russia) GT1 built in 2008

Hey CoasterFan2105 could you please do an episode of Train Talk on the F59PH and the F59PHI locomotives since the ones on Amtrak are going to soon be retired and the F59s on Metrolink as well so I would really appreciate it or maybe even a video on Amtrak or Metrolink trains galore maybe?! But yes maybe you could try? I love your channel by the way it's awesome!!!

@TFN54598 жыл бұрын
TommyPickles Fan1992 Yup. That and the SDP40F it's coupled to were once owned (could be still owned) by Doyle McCormack.

No, both locomotives are owned by Dynarail Inc. Neither one was ever owned by Doyle McCormack, although for a brief time they were stored at the same facility as his locomotives.
