true but it serves Philippines interest really well. PH knows to well that the Taiwan and Guam base near the Philippines is important to the US. Malaysia don't have a bargaining chip to offer the US that's why Malaysia is left with very little choice on the matter but to accept the present situation. While India and the Philippines have more cards on their sleeves to bring US into cooperation with them to achieve their interest. Sri Lankan economy problem wasn't caused by China. Their president banned the use of fertilizer and went for full organic farming which caused disaster to their entire agriculture sector. because Philippine economy is a bit different from other ASEAN members. Philippines have relatively low dependence to China compare to other ASEAN countries. Philippines actually exports more products to Netherlands, USA, Japan. You have its largest sector the electronics and semiconductors, it and bpo industry, tourism, aeronautics.. which is a result of close collaboration with the west. Philippines is a bit like Singapore when it comes to economic alignment both countries trade more with the OECD countries rather than China.
