That spot in Helium's second routine where he sounds like he's going off-tempo, he's not losing it. He's doing syncopation. If you just count the beats before he gets into it and keep going while he's doing it, you realize that he stays on tempo for that entire section.

Lol no, he was absolutely on time. He did a rhythm which is not so prominent in the music industry. But music wise it is a rhythm which is totally on time and consistent but it sounds weird bcs you guys are not used to hearing it that much but it is a VERYYY common rhythm in beatbox so yeah

Helium took things in a technical direction, he took a risk. He was completely in time in his second round, but the polyrhythms he was working with are by no means accessible to your average listener. Inertia got popular vote for being simple like popular music. Calculated risk, because the judges might have awarded it to Helium on a different day. He wasn't sloppy. At all. Comparing that to Inertia's timing, which was all over the place at multiple points... Inertia won on sheer power and accessibility. If it had come down to cleanliness, Helium would've won by a mile.

this is late but lowkey i prefer inertia being off time, i think he would lose alot of what makes him special if he was a human metronome. to me inertia just has a groove that no other beatboxer has, it kinda reminds me of how old music isnt always on time and has a flow thats been lost because daws can just quantize the shit to be perfectly on beat.

Just wanted to point out helium does a technique where he puts his finger in his ear so he can hear what he's doing better and catch the rhythm because it only sounds powerful when you have a mic. His hat wasn't falling off but I see what you meant by that. Also he was going ridiculously fast so it may have been a little bit off but that's one of his special things. Not many beatboxers can do that as fast as helium can.

Helium at 15:23 was flexing on inertia because he can do and off timing beat which requires more skill than you would think, because you have to fight your brains natural tendency to be on beat. It's essentially dancing on the beat against your own rhythm, and inertia basically can't do that. Being off time in between beats is essentially a demonstration of skill rather than a way to make something very pleasing to the ear.

The reason King Inertia won the battle was for his Falsetto Inward Bass, all beatboxers and beatbox fans know exactly how difficult it is to pitch yet alone correctly use this technique. As well as that Inertia had the balls to pull it off with confidence and mainly rely on that technique to win the battle, there was no crowd sway for voting just pure skill and raw talent. Well done Inertia!!

First of all, this is no hate, just my perspective. Just because Helium is a really complex beatboxer and has a lot of speed and difficult paterns doesnt mean he is sloppy. It is just hard to understand especialy if you havent experienced or have experienced with technical beatboxing and odd paterns. Helium was next to perfect in both rounds but just stating that he is sloppy without evidence or arguments is a bit disrespectfull. They were both amazing and it is as u guys said super hard to judge.

Also this was helium's first lice battle I believe this was the first live gbb after covid lockdown. Heliums song structures have gotten better and is battling has too. You should check out his covers and stuff hes pretty technical usually ao he's been working on song structures through covers he makes his own. King inertia timing is always a little off but he jams so hard it doesn't usually bite him in the butt too hard but king inertia has been working on technicality and timing bc that's where he was lacking compared to his song structuring of routines.
