Nanowar of Steel is an Italian parody band that mostly produces songs in the “metal” and “hard rock” genres. However, they often play homage and make fun of other artists or genres. They are very talented musicians who do this for fun and do other jobs for a living: the bass player is an astrophysicist, for example. This video is a tongue-in-cheek to both Scandinavian black metal (with the painted faces, dark themes, rock instruments, burned churches, fans that really can’t dance and just wiggle in place), and to the Caribbean reggaeton (with the simple riffs, the summer and happy themes, and of course the ever-present, hyper-sexualized women in almost all music videos of that genre). If you turn on English subtitles, they also provided the translation for the parts sang in Spanish (from the singer of Gigatron - another parody metal band from Spain). From a musical standpoint this is a really high-quality song: the composition of two genres (three, with the rapped parti?) so different from each other has been very well engineered. The comedy in the lyrics comes from the clash between summer, happy things and winter, dark things (“hypothermia, cuba libra, midnight sun”). Also, the video has a symmetrical structure. The part at the pool has beach girls and goth guys. The part indoor has goth girls (they are the same dancers) and the typical club guys. In both cases most of the guys are purposely portrayed as “not cool” for the sake of comedy. Other good songs from them are (mind that they are all comedy, even if well composed and executed): - Valhalleluja (a merge between viking metal and gospel) - Uranus (a homage to glam rock with a lot of very accurate astronomy facts) - And then I Noticed that She Was a Gargoyle - Disco Metal (European disco dance with a horror twist) - Pasadena 1994 (a soccer final played as a war battle, homage to the lyrics of the group Sabaton and featuring their singer) Thank you for the reaction. One small suggestion for future video is: try to schedule your record session when you are alone or in another room as the interruptions and background noises really break the flow of the video. A reference that metallers could miss: the guy raising from the ashes of Varg Vikernes pic is Daddy Yankee, co-author of "Despacito". Varg, Black Metal musician, was the main suspect for the fire of Folston church in 1992 and then convicted of the murder of his band guitarist. The name "Nanowar of Steel" of course aims to Manowar of Steel, but notice that NANO in Italian means DWARF😆. P.S. The tattooed dark goddess, is an Italian model and a Suicide Girl🤩

You are defenitely not a heavy metal person lol And yes, we do walk around dressed in all-black with long haired men all over (not with the makeup tho, that's reserved for bands and hardcore fans at festivals) :D This video is both very metal and very European, so no surprise that you missed out on pretty much every reference and context. It was fun to watch someone with no understanding whatsoever tho, loved the reaction. You will be surprised by anything else you'll hear from them because not a single song of theirs is similar to another...

The one piece suits worn by the men in the beginning could well be representations of rai. Gear or "survivalsuits" commonly worn by fisherman or other off shore workers especially in Northern areas with cold oceans. Norway being an oil producing and fishing nation it is certainly not out of place. Even black metal fans often had to hold jobs.
