I think the reason why people get upset about corn syrup as they seem to think it’s high fructose, corn syrup. If you use Caro they do not use high fructose corn syrup. People just hear corn syrup and think it’s the same thing as high fructose, corn syrup, which it is not.

Hi Tom and Melissa. Oh Henry candy bars are wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I have made Oh Henry bars many times over my 52 years of marriage. I'm from Minnesota also. When our son was in the service and stationed in Bagad, I would send him a box from home once a month. I always included Oh Henry candy bars in his box from home. They were his favorite. When I was growing up 1950's and 1960's Baby Ruth and OH Henry were my favorite candy bars. Oh Henry candy bars were a cheaper version of Baby Ruth's. I know you follow the recipes you get to the tee, but I would add chopped peanuts in with the oatmeal and maybe on the top. Who am I kidding. I would add the peanuts on the top as well. Just discovered your show. I enjoy it. Keep up the good job.

We made these bars often, and my children grew up with these as a "sometimes" treat! After my mother died, my dad, who only did recipes on cards, not recipe books, got the directions from a cousin who also made these, and wrote it on a card, since the recipe we used was in homemakers' cookbook. He made these for his dartball club, and took them to a potluck at church, proud as a peacock becasue he made them himself! We always used semi-sweet chocolate chipes, and Jif, of course!!

My Granddads name was Henry. My Granny told me that one day he said some to her that was so funny she just cackled and said "Oh Henry" A couple of years later he got very sick and was in the hospital dying (sadly a Veteran who drank himself to death after the war) My Grandmother got someone to take her to see him 3 times a week. Every time she saw him she would bring him an Oh Henry bar until the day he died. He would always laugh at it. She made sure to get herself one every month until she died in memory of him. She would have loved this recipe. Thank you for the memories.

Enjoyed this recipe so much! Remember the Oh Henry! candy bars from my childhood in the 1960s. The little neighborhood grocery store in the next block North of my home always had them in a rack on their checkout counter. In those days they were a rather thin, long candy bar that was layer of caramel covered with fudge along with peanuts coated entirely with milk chocolate. My understanding is that this candy bar was discontinued in 2019. I am told that the Rally bar sold by Hershey is very similar, but haven't tried one.

Oh Henry! was an American candy bar containing peanuts, caramel, and fudge coated in chocolate,[1] sold in the US until 2019. [2] A slightly different version of it is still manufactured and sold in Canada.[3] This version is sold in the US by Hershey, under the name Rally Bars.[4] Oh Henry!

Hedgehog Slice Makes 24 Ingredients: Slice: 250g unsalted butter 1 can (395g) sweetened condensed milk 200g dark or milk chocolate 500g plain sweet biscuits (Marie, Milk Arrowroot or Digestives recommended) 30g shredded or desiccated coconut Topping: 200-250g dark or milk chocolate 1 tablespoon cooking oil or vegetable oil or 10g copha, butter or coconut oil Method: Grease and line a 16cm x 26cm slice pan. Add the butter, sweetened condensed milk and chocolate into a medium saucepan and place over low heat until the butter and chocolate have completely melted, stirring occasionally, making sure it doesn’t burn. Crush your biscuits, make sure you have some large and some small pieces. Add the biscuits to a large bowl with the coconut, and stir to combine. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the biscuits and coconut, and mix together. Add the mixture to your slice pan and place in the refrigerator while you do the next step. Melt your chocolate with your oil and melt in the microwave. Take out your hedgehog from the refrigerator and pour your melted chocolate over, use a spoon to help it spread. Place back in the refrigerator and let it all set completely. Cut up and ENJOY!

Hi guys, check the actual KARO corn syrup. It does not have Fructose. Off brand Corn Syrup has Fructose. You can bet the people that give you words about KARO drink soda drinks like crazy. You guys are great, don’t worry about people that do not have only kind words. They can have their own show when they learn their ingredients. Thank you for all of your fun recipes.
