I picture being in a drought stricken area, where rainfall is 1 to 2 feet below normal. Everything is parched, and desperately needs rain. I think of it as being in a very hot summer, with little to no rain, the inky rain coming in widely scattered and very isolated thunder showers, that rain themselves out almost immediately. But, then, by Autumn, on a non work night, during the day of a non work night, forecasters are calling for heavy rain, associated with a tropical storm, to commence overnight, and continue throughout the next day, and into the day after that. This would bring lawns and gardens back to life, and provide sleeping sounds on the roof. By the time the rain ends, multiple inches would have fallen. That would at least put a dent in the drought. Does anyone remember Dionne Warwick's 1967 album, Here where there is Love? The album cover features a couple standing beside a lake, and a sunny day giving way to a cloudy night by sunset. I imagine that the gathering clouds are preceding rain that will begin during the night, and continues throughout the next day, heavily at times.
