No one BEFORE or SINCE has matched his global accomplishments!!!!! This concert was shown to the world via satellite. It was seen in about 40 other different countries besides the USA. An estimated 1 Billion people viewed it. Elvis wanted the world to know that this was done by an American Entertainer on American Soil, which was in Hawaii!!!!! He chose this outfit for the American Eagle and this was the design he agreed to by his costume maker. A red, white and blue outfit with the American Eagle. Pretty neat, I would say!!! Only Elvis could be Elvis and only Elvis could pull this type of concert off!!!!!!!! The King Of Entertaiment!!!!!!

The song is from "Aloha from Hawaii" - the only worldwide show via satellite by a single performer to this day, over 50 years later. It's only been done a few times after this, Live Aid in 1985 perhaps the best known. But that involved pretty much every major artist on the planet. Elvis is still to this day the only artist that's been able to carry a show like this on his own. The GOAT.

THAT RAMP from the STAGE: Producer/director Marty Pasetta told Parker (Elvis' manger) that he wanted to build a ramp for Elvis to walk out onto & Parker said no. Pasetta explained that it would be 8 ft. wide & Elvis could stay in the middle or go to the left or to the right if he wanted to (because Pasetta knew how important the audience was to Elvis), but Parker stlll said no. Fortunately, Pasetta was able to meet w-Elvis & he explained exactly what he told Parker. Fortunately again, Elvis overrode Parker & told Pasetta to build the ramp. Paseta told Elvis he wanted him to lose 25 lbs., which Elvis did. Elvis then hugged Pasetta & said you are one of the few people who has been totally honest w-me. Without that ramp the concert would have been very different if Elvis did not have the option to get in close touch w-the audience. This concert was A BENEFIT TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE KUI LEE CANCER FUND & it raised $75,000. Elvis bought his own ticket for $1,000 & did not make any money from it. The amount of people in the audience was said to be 8,800. "My Way" was made popular in 1969 by Frank Sinatra to the music of the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed by Jacques Revaux & lyrics by Gilles Thibaut & Claude François. The English version was written by Paul Anka who re-wrote the original version for Sinatra & subtly altered the melodic structure and changing the lyrics. Sinatra’s daughter Nancy said Sinatra did not like the song to the point of hating it. Sinatra said it was "self-serving" but performed it many times anyway. It’s interesting that Sinatra thought it was self-serving since he was extremely spoiled from early childhood to the point of wanting everything his way throughout his life.

Check out American Trilogy from this exact same Hawaii concert. It's so so good. It's a song of the South and then a song of the North and then a slave spiritual lullaby, and then it ties it all together and he knocks it out of the park.

Certainly towards the end of his life, Elvis much preferred singing Gospel or ballads, rather than his early rock and roll stuff. He also had a way of interpreting a song to make you believe he means every word ... My Way became a " standard ", covered by many, many performers. It was originally a French song called " Comme d'habitude ", a hit for Claude Francois in 1967. The English lyrics, by Paul Anka, set to the same tune, were written by Paul Anka in 1968, and bore no relation to the original ...

Elvis was going through a divorce at this time. The vibrato in his voice was amazing. Paul Anka wrote this song for himself but he gave it to Frank Sinatra who recorded it first. The whole Aloha from Hawaii concert has beautiful songs and he looked amazing. American Trilogy, burning Love, fever, The girl is going to stay and cc rider are my favorites.

You're reacting as if he wrote the song. He didn't write it. Others had covered it before him. But he did what he always did. He took a song others had done but he internalized it and musically and vocally "interpreted" it in a way that was so genuine and sounded so authentic that it seemed as if it was his song. Anyone can cover a song. But few can make it their own in the way that Elvis could. In that regard he was one of the greatest song interpreters of all time.

To Dean Bros: PLEASE don't take this as a NEGATIVE against you as a new listener to ELVIS. In fact I am addressing this to meany new reaction video creators that react to Elvis. Here goes: I have watched many of you who immediately try to analyze the lyrics that Elvis sings. Many of you start asking things like, was he sick, or was this something in his life that he had to express in his singing ETC... HERE is what you NEED to understand - ELVIS never wrote a song in his life. He was not a songwriter - period. But was a GREAT singer!!! He sang other people's songs. This one was known as Frank Sinatra's song before Elvis did it - as most of his stuff was done by otheres long before him. Elvis made nearly every song he ever did BETTER than all those who did them before him... Elvis just chose songs that he liked and that he could use his full vocal range on. Think of it like if you went to sing Karaoke - you would choose songs that you liked to sing and that you thought an audience would like to hear. This was (somewhat) what Elvis did - he chose songs that he liked and sang them... Yes many of the songs reflected his thoughts. But don't put much thought on how deep they went into his psychologically and if he was trying to convey a deep message... Elvis use to tell fans and reporters "I am just an intertainer" " nothing else"...

By the way of those drugs which were all prescription drugs! Yes they played a part but just saying drug issues is a lazy unfair comment as far as Elvis is concerned.

Say this as constructive criticism to you both - of all artists and of all songs, to put on a fairly loud clapping effect on your video of this right, at the very last note of the song where Elvis reaches his peak in this performance that in turn then partially obliterates the audio of that very moment - why do that. Look not saying you both meant any disrespect but just as say meant as kind advice, not the thing to do. The split second after he actually sang it, fine...on the moment itself noooo. Hope you both understand as said especially for all people Elvis and what it means to be able to hear fully in your videos (and for your benefit also), the way he ends a song he sings.

THANK YOU for saying something. I was in shock & annoyed at what they did -- it was so wrong & out of place -- even if it was an upbeat, fun song, this is never something to do over a singer's ending -- & i say this not because it's Elvis but should apply to ANY & ALL singers -- they need to finish singing uninterrupted. I thought about mentioning something but held back. Thanks.
