As long as you dont fly directly into the stars or for some strange retarded reason decide to use silent running, heat is never an issue. Literally my shit fresh out of the loo is more useful than Heat Sinks in this game.

i once flew way to close to Betelgeuse. i seemed to be falling into it despite having full boost pointing away. reached 456% heat before jumping out of there I hear combat mains reach temps in the thousands

Happened to me once, popped out of witchspace right next to the star, like i should, unfortunately there was a secondary star within spitting distance to it and quite a bit closer to me than the main star was. Got thrown out of supercruse (emergency stop) before i had the chance to process whats wrong. Going back to supecruse this close to a star was...exiting and required a few repairs afterwards.
