Watching this after the rebuild mede me nostalgic about the Anime Asuka Soryu. It makes me realize the Asuka in the rebuild was way less important and less impactfull, she was really cutted hard (or replaced by other characters). At least Rebuilds gave us lot of HD Asuka so im not complaining xd.

@@achillezop8811 3.0+1.0 as a movie is masterfully crafted and did a lot to fill the gaps left by 3.0, but the lost screentime in 3.0 is still felt. In perspective, we barely got to know Asuka (Introduced in 2.0, almost non-existant in 3.0). At the end, even if we got closure for Asuka and the thing makes sense by mixing TV+EoE+Rebuild, the movies still are completely focused on Shinji's tour de force, and almost everything is a device for that.

The rebuilds films feels ok cause most of the fans already know the characters from the anime but in reality the rebuilds have a massive hole in the character development section. Asuka was super cutted. Idk after 3.0+1.0 i have mixed feelins about the rebuild films. Like, the films dont works like stand alones (without the anime) cause they dont develope and make the audience know the main characters enought. But on the other end the anime characters are like compleatly different from the ones in the rebuild cause different experiences. So things in 3.0+1.0 like where asuka and shinji confessed they liked eachother kinda works when you first see it cause thats was true in the anime where they had lot of interactions but in the rebuilds alones they didnt have that so after you realize that the anime is another thing like that makes no sense. Idk i like the rebuilds and graphically they are amazing but they are like not related to the anime but at the sane time without the anime they dont work well as stand alone films. Well at least we fans got to see amazing artworks of the characters we loved 15/20 years ago.
