Definitely don’t feel pressured to have guests on just because of what chat says! Like you said, you’re not a con, and it’s your freakin home. You should only have people on if you’re comfortable, do whatever is best for you :)

In regards to the bigoted a-hole situation... I think going back to confront the guy would have just added more fuel to the fire, you'd find yourself in an endless argument with someone who is absolutely NOT worth wasting your time on, Aliona. Sometimes it's best to just move on and simply deny attention to these people, be strong and don't let them get into your head and ruin your day. At most I'd settle for a dignified quip, so if someone is going to shout that slur again, just say "That's more than you'll ever be" and drive off into the sunset like an absolute queen, leaving them with an emotional paper cut which is way more than these Tory types deserve anyway. Hope you're feeling better today, we love you.

Peregrine falcons become more and more common in cities as tall buildings and skyscrapers mimic their natural habitats (steep cliffs) in addition to their favorite prey (pigeons) being overabundant. I believe there are stable pigeon populations living on the buildings in NYC that you can see when you visit. I love birds for their resilience and adaptability to changing environments and this makes birdwatching one of the most accesible ways for city dwellers to interact with wildlife.

Aliona, I feel so awful for your experience at the hands of that nasty bigot 😢. People who shout insults and/or cat-call at complete strangers for no reason have never made any sense to me at all. Of course I've been fortunate enough not to have ever gone through a period of bigotry towards other people based on ethnicity or sexuality or gender (I think the closest I got was a very brief phase where I stupidly thought that the Vietnamese started the Vietnam War back when I was 12 years old, but I was quickly disabused of that notion thanks to reading a book on the subject). In my High School and Uni years I was surrounded by very diverse groups of people. I have also always been a very introverted and introspective person, so would be disinclined to shout anything at a complete stranger, no matter how I felt about them.

Aw. I love you two so much. It broke my heart to hear your experience. I've tried confronting or yelling at cat-callers before (I know it's a slightly different situation there, but you know what I mean), and I don't know if it's really the best thing to do. In the moment it's so hard to not let your anger get the better of you, but honestly I think the best thing to do is walk away and not let it bother you. Anyone who yells something hateful like that is not a healthy person. They're probably hurting, they are deeply unwell, and just projecting that hurt onto a stranger. It's really really hard, and takes practice, but if you can just take some deep breaths and walk away unbothered, then you've won. But also, I think you all talking about it and sharing your experience is super helpful too. Thank you for sharing. You are warrior women. Hugs to you both.

Frankly Aliona I think the best thing you can do is ignore it, it's not what you want. But if you go back and confront them, they are just gonna escalate further. They'll just see you as yet another one of those "sensitive alphabet soup people" that "can't take a joke". I'm very sceptical you're gonna change the DudeBroLads mind.

If you ever fancy a holiday to New Zealand, my husband and I stayed in a treehouse just like that there! We're from the UK too so it was a bit of a journey, but so worth it. It was amazing for birdwatching there too- their birds are so different to ours. I loved watching the fantails, but I was also fascinated by the TUI birds- they were so noisy, and sounded like the old dial up modems!

Coming home from work, I remembered I have this to watch and that got me so excited! :D Congratulation with the new streaming gears! They look so tidy as well! Sorry about the shouty guy. I'd call him a goblin of the week. But that'll be too kind for him, goblins in BG3 are actually quite fun. I like your method of how to deal with them. "Drown it with love" and "Hate hate with love". They're still hard to do when our brain's filled up with all sort of chemicals. But those methods sounded most realistic and lovely.

Honestly, the best approach to the incident would be to just move on. We still live in a world with plenty of bigoted people. The best thing to do is nothing because someone like that will not do anything but potentially escalate if you really try to go back and interact with him. If there was a more dramatic, physical response, I'd say go full police on them. But for some thrown out comment like that, the best thing to do is treat them with pity because you know they're vile people and probably endure all sorts of nonsense because karma's a thing: not magical, just that asshats will always rub people the wrong way and end up pissing off the wrong person one day.

My family actually kept a Saker falcon years ago (it's legal in central Asia), and it was one of the most majestic and intelligent creatures I ever seen. The only downside is that it eats SO MUCH! It needs around 5kg of meat every day after 3-4 years old, and sometimes it hunts other birds for snacks

J & A - I totally understand being mad (and especially being mad on behalf of your partner). But on a realistic level, confronting someone who is already some degree of hateful/angry is only going to escalate further. And truly, you never know who you are dealing with, or what theyre capable of. No bigot is worth your safety, your sanity, or your life. I say do not engage unless absolutely necessary. (for background im white, gender non-conforming, and bi. and married to a bi black man as well. and im from a part of the US where open bigotry is pretty common)

when you guys come to nyc you need to at least once get food from a shitty street cart or a bodega. it’s a rite of passage (other than that, you can literally get any kind of food at any time of day. also, nyc is very very queer friendly in the whole city especially like more downtown, but upstate ny can get a little iffy (once you get out into the middle of nowhere the conservatives start to appear) - large towns or cities are usually good though. you’ll be able to tell tbh)

Just chiming in as a fellow NYC-area/upstate person: Syracuse itself isn't bad -- and should you have time to explore at all (although I suspect that's unlikely), Ithaca is about an hour away from Syracuse & super queer friendly and also home to the Cornell School of Ornithology (i.e. home of the Merlin app). Plenty of good bird watching!

There were two or three sequences where I thought as well that they were a bit too long and could have been snappier and that would have probably been amplified if I were reading the proper book. But overall I liked it a lot and quite enjoyed the humor and choice of language. But yeah, I can understand your decision. 👍

I love your streams so much, thank you for being such lovely humans and sharing your lovely selves with us! I wish I had advice for a good way to deal with that asshat. For what it's worth, I think telling that story just as you have is great. Sure, it might not affect that bigot, but there's probably nothing you could have said or done that would have made him question his life choices or resulted in consequences for him. But letting other people who have experienced that sort of treatment feel seen and not alone, and letting others who DON'T have that experience know that it still happens, is so incredibly important. Not everyone has the emotional capacity to talk about these things, so thank you for doing so. Love you both and happy Pride! ❤

Two things, Ver actually has a spell that is pretty powerfull, Glyph of Warding, it essentially places down a quite large magical trap that explodes with the selected magic type (so similarly to spirit guardians, where you can chose between necrotic and light you have a choice between all magic types), when an enemy enters it (so it might have helped you with the invisible warden), but you can just cast it on a group and it'll trigger immediately. And there are quite a few things to explore in Moonrise before you move on, Ketherics and Baltazars private quarters, there is something in the walls you can find, a couple of good traders, there's a fight on a blacony, and steel claw the cat, and some other dialogue. If you want to it's probably best to do that before moving on (although you can return to Moonrise until a certain point of no return, which in terms of main quest points is pretty close, before which you should do everything else in act 2)

I've been an outsider since forever ago, living in a rural American town (not gay, though I've been called that and many other things). Thankfully, in some ways my town is improving. And so is the rest of the world. As loud as the extremists are, they are in a small, overall, minority. Rural Americal has Pride events. You can talk comic books and DnD in public, rather than "sports."
