The character "Brock Linahan" is actually a parody of the Canadian TV interviewer Brian Linehan (1944-2004).

The great Fred Willard was being interviewed by Linehan when he suddenly stopped and said " You're the guy Marty does!" He didn't know the Brock character was based on a real person.

The amazing thing about SCTV is how well they make “old” films. The faded 60s color, the 50s black and white, and the sound are so authentic. Watch _The Last Polka, Six Gun Justice,_ the clips from _Sammy Maudlin’s 23rd Anniversary Show,_ or the documentary about Bobby Bitman’s One Millionth Performance. They created “old films” better than most film studios.

And 70 years since 1954. It reminds me Happy Days. It took place in the late 50's and into the early 60's and was filmed in the mid 70's, just around 15 years later. Yet, it's been half a century since the show itself was made.

This is a play on an amalgam of Child TV actors. My grandmother lived across the street from Tommy Rettig's mom, Rose, in the 1970s when she moved to Reno, NV. She was battling cancer and Tommy, then in his 30s, was bringing his mom bags of weed to combat the nausea associated with her chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
