7:55 - When I first saw that scene in Armageddon complete with that song, I didn't know yet that Liv Tyler was the daughter of Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler (I was maybe 13 or 14 when I first saw that movie back in 1999). When I found out about that family relationship shortly after, I laughed super hard at the idea of Steven himself singing an 80s-style power ballad over his daughter's love scene and that forever changed the way I see both that movie and that song. Wow, I'm really impressed! Based on what we saw, this seems like a hack that looks harder than it is, and I don't mean that as an insult. Poo's really gotten good with blind reads, of course, but a lot of this stuff seems to just flow really well without being too tight. Also, I hope Poo finishes this at some point!

It is bizarre how I used to watch the rom hacks, and thought it was easy, but, when I actually got to play my first rom hack, which was Quickie World 2. I suffered at the first level. My mind changed after that day.

@@RobertFindTheMarkes I was half-asleep when I wrote the first comment, and also just lost my more detailed reply, so here's a quick summary of what I was trying to say. I'm not a Kaizo player, but I'm a huge game design aficionado. Orcus has been designed with remarkable precision. Based on what was shown in the video, there's a mimimum of indicators, and yet even I can tell what to do after one or two glances in the vast majority of sections. Things look like they're going to be pretty tight, but if you pay attention the tolerances are bigger than they appear. This is amazing game design; a lot of attention has gone into not only nailing the feel and flow of a level, but making the player they did amazing instead of scrape by the skin of their teeth. A good contrast is the first hack's shown level. There's a lot of stopping and waiting, the timing feels pixel-perfect at places, and overall when you die it feels like the level was jank more than a personal failing. Orcus is definitely still a Kaizo game and appropriately difficult. It's just put a lot of effort into making you feel awesome for managing to accomplish through its design and I applaud it.

Actually all levels vary a lot and judging the hack by just one Minute of gameplay is not representative.

@ There’s no way of knowing that for sure ahead of time, so if it looks like a hack that might waste a lot of time in the beginning, it’s better to go for something else, because the first level’s usually shorter and easier than most of what follows.

The level design of the first level looked weird. Poo played a colossal numbers of mario world hack and he simply decided that if the first 30 seconds of this hack isn't fun to him then there's a good chance the rest isn't either. Sometime first level are the worst and gets better but they're often indicative of the quality of the hack as a whole.

Because it wasn't as polished as other hacks he could play. If it's someone's first hack after 30 hours then the flow is going to be weird compared to other hacks, and probably a lot harder to read. It didn't look like a bad hack but not one he could blast through for the challenge.
