There is a switch on the rail in the room with the gate you tried to bomb. You looked at it several times. Your reaction to the POI is the same I had on your server a few days ago. I didn't have great weapons either and because of that i had the minigun with me. I usually never use it. Now it has become my go to weapon!

You looked right at the door switch (near the door) at 44:23 and 44:50. So yes, spanj. You were being blind. Also worth noting that this version of the POI is bugged and has already been replaced in a recent hotfix. Though in the course of this video, I saw 2 more bugs that need fixing.

I like that you occasionally give us a long corridor that melee enemies have to run at us through. It gives a feeling of power and control that you quickly rip back away again. This is a great POI.

That said I think Reforged Eden looks amazing and while I'm still just starting Empyrion I saw 3 versions of RE 1.8 not sure if I'm going to do regular or Atlantis for a second playthrough of Empyrion. At the moment of writing this I have Empyrion 1.8.15.

After watching your next video, it appears Reforged changed what it cures. In normal Broken Eden, it cures Dermal Burn, Frostbite and Bad Trip. Reforged replaced the first two with Dermal Parasite.

He's upped his POI game drastically on this one 😎 I'm thinking if loading up the factory with HV core heal stations..to be dropped and recovered as I go. But it'll take a bit of resources to set up. Folks are getting creative with HV cores. I've used your idea of a semi portable constructor...and I saw a multi turret deployable hard point on the WS the other day....Vermillion us ramping it up.. but the Reforged Players are fighting back 😁

Started my first ever game of Reforged with the July update and got this POI. Glad to hear it isn't just me struggling with it. I do think there needs to be some sort of rating system for POI's in game to let new players understand what they are getting in to. Just a 1-10 scale would be great.

Wow Vermillion, this is way too difficult, that switch was so cleverly concealed, Spanj only looked at it four times before declaring it unfindable, you need to put it more out in the open, maybe with a big sign above it saying "Spanj, here is the switch" so that he can look past it six or eight times before giving up :D Jokes at your expense aside ;) Spanj, you are smoking this POI despite its buffed difficulty. Spanj should look into getting a specially made HV that is only slightly larger than a single BA block in one axis, which makes it perfect for moving around corridors. Some friends of mine on one server got one, and it makes for a powerful POI destroyer. I also find it funny how he corners himself constantly instead of running back to the entrance to the room for protection.

@@Spanj It is. It's just big enough to get through most block sized corridors, but the front would be a little longer due to the guns, making navigation inside a little difficult. Also it would use an open cockpit and you have no shields, so....

I figured out why you could not put the generator and tank next to the present one in the Mirage: there are 2 LCD projectors on each side of the generator, projecting the 'Arc Mirage' logo on the outside of the hull.

I keep a mini HV in the factory that's just a core, a generator, a fuel tank and a trauma station for when you are deep in a poi and need a heal station. Disassemble and throw back in the factory when you're done.

With the latest update of reforged, Solar panels on CV's were changed. A bunch of blueprints from your last season that I took from your workshop can no longer be spawned until the blueprint is changed to use the new ones. Do you plan on updating them?

For my survival games, I designed a tiny base that was basically only a core with all 5 medical stations for dropping outside an abandoned POI. I bet that you could use one to great effect just outside the area of t he POI that would reset if you are going to rerun the POIs a lot. It would give you a good respawn location and more healing than the HV med station. You could also have cargo boxes around the core to connect to while inside the POI. Another awesome episode. Im looking forward to the next.

Shame there isn't a way to fine tune the enemy AI, so alien soldiers and abominations aren't working together as brothers-in-arms. On the one hand, it is a neat bit of worldbuilding that the soldiers are interested in recovering and clearing the POIs for strategic reasons. But at the same time it's immersion breaking to see them surrounded by literal and figurative abominations yet focusing fire on the player.

Honestly, it's not even the difficulty that's the issue. It's that the difficulty is based around overwhelming the player with swarms of tanky and aggressive mobs all while making the play area so cramped that it's impossible to utilize any mobility. I just did part of this POI with almost the same setup as Spanj, I gotta ask now. Are the spawns randomized? To any extent? Where he first encountered the infected Zirax, I encountered two guys, and both had miniguns. Instantly killed me. Then rushed the ramp and camped that room, killing me over and over until I lured them where they got stuck on the door where all the abominations got stuck. Yup, had to break the game to proceed. And then there was another one camping around the corner at the bottom of the halfway blocked elevator, another minigun and another instant death. I swear, every time I encountered the infected Zirax, they were even more aggressive than Spanj had. I wish I could record so I could give an example of how many times I was killed before I even had a chance to scope in for aiming. It was so bad that I was honestly mad watching them NOT mow Spanj down instantly; they just stood there for precious seconds while he shot them. Is this something that happens when you play online? I was playing in single player so maybe they're even faster. And again, I ended up with way more of them than him, like I got three for every time he got two. I hate it. I hate the Illmaren even more, and everything Vermillion puts together. He does great work, but this game can't handle it. The mobility isn't there; you're just locked into taking ludicrous amounts of damage and burning through, in my case, literally thousands of rounds of ammo and more than a hundred healing items, and that's not counting the actual few dozen deaths. It's not fun and it sucks that everyone else loves it so much that they're adding these things into the base game. This game needs a combat overhaul if any of this is to be acceptable. Enemies don't flinch, all their weapons are borderline hitscan, they have super high damage output and are super aggressive. Melee enemies tank so much damage and come in such high numbers than it's impossible to kill them all without tanking up damage or repeatedly dying. Reloading and weapon switching takes way too long. Even with a jetpack, mobility is worthless because the POIs are so cramped you can't move without getting hung up on the environment, all while the above-mentioned enemies swarm over obstacles like they aren't even there. I will admit, Spanj put on a good show of being pretty accurate with his shots. So let's say he's well above average in skill. But watch how he had to play. Every room he entered he instantly had to backpedal out of, then retreat down the corridor. Several of the rooms he just cheesed the elevators and took advantage of enemies getting stuck on doors. I guess I'm alone in my thinking, since everyone seems to love Vermillion's work, but I think that's just plain bad design and a really un-fun game. Doom doesn't have that, Serious Sam doesn't have that, all the arena shooters of old don't have that; they all give the player ample mobility and weaponry to take on the enemies thrown at them--you don't have to cheese your way through. Yeah, I'm mad. I want to love the game, I really do. No other game gives you just good exploration and building, and actually something to do. Space Engineers is just a buggy sandbox, NMS has no combat to speak of, Elite: Dangerous: Odyssey is a steaming turd and doesn't look like it'll ever be fixed, and Star Citizen will never be finished. EGS is the only one with a complete package, it's so close to being good, but it misses the mark in all the worst ways. The amount of work the devs put in, that Vermillion, raiven_ff, Jrandall, Spanj, everyone who contributes to this game; they're stuff is gorgeous and it's such an amazing effort. But the only viable solution to combat these POIs, events, ship encounters, whatever, is to either find a way to completely break the game or spend hundreds of hours grinding monotonously so you can build something OP and PC-crashingly complex that you can just obliterate what you're up against. It's not really possible to meet the challenge as it comes and duke it out. And that's a damn shame if you ask me.

I just did a Reforged Abandoned Drone Base. I did it with Improved Light Armor, a T2 pulse rifle, and a good supply of meds we bought from a trader. I did do it with someone else in similar gear but I would have no problem doing it solo either way. We both enjoyed the POI far more than the old vanilla versions we used to do, and the loot was much better than vanilla. Reforged improves on the game in so many ways, but a lot of people can't handle the increased difficulty. And that's okay, because it's a custom scenario people can choose to play or not to play. The problem is that first of all, the shooter experience in Empyrion is pretty bad. They really need to devote an update to just fixing the shooter experience, improve how we can configure spawners, and give both players and the AI more tools and mechanics to use to help themselves or overcome obstacles (personal shields, portable sentry turrets, grenades, etc).

You did pick up a Heavy armor, so it's worth thinking about using it. (Downside: You'll be very significantly less mobile.) Also, IDK if this matters in either Vanilla or RE, but you seem to have your helmet off. I do wonder if helmet on would lessen the odds of getting the really nasty infections when you get hit.

Abandoned POIs are some of the hardest on-foot content in the entire vanilla game. Reforged Eden is a difficulty enhancing custom scenario. This abandoned POI is on this planet because it's a custom starting planet. Anyone choosing this hard starting, in this hard custom scenario, and attacking this hard POI in low level gear should be experienced enough to know what they are getting themselves into, I would hope. :D This season of Spanj's Let's Play is literally harder than any starting situation in the default game, by an order of magnitude. And this is a pretty tame planet compared to some in Eden.

Question about RE, is there more coming to the main story line? It was really fun and then just nothing. Took all of 5 minutes to go from this is awesome to ok, lots of stuff i can do, but nothing i need to do. Ok, bored of Empyrion again.
