If anyone actually took the time to fully listen to or read all the lyrics to this song, and not just watch and pay attention to the video and nothing else, it's fairly obvious it isn't about Manson, Reznor, Eminem, and dissing them for whatever reason people would like to imagine, It's about Ogre acknowledging certain feelings of bitterness, resentment, and jealousy for not being more popular and having as much notoriety and fame as these other artists in Industrial music, despite being one of the main artists responsible for developing and popularizing the genre, and rightfully so, to an extent, and thinking about miming or aping their style to gain more popularity, being frustrated that he can't understand these artists, their music, and/or why it is so popular or how to be popular like them, expressed in the lyrics, "Feeling blind to all important scenes", then, despite these feelings, ultimately realizing he shouldn't care about such things and should "give it up," because "it's unoriginal," to try and copy other artists' style, as the song puts it, and should ignore these thoughts and focus on staying true to his own artistry. I mean, everybody knows about how Trent straight up just admitted he ripped off "Dig It" for "Down In It", If anyone has the right to feel that way, it's him. I mean, how would you feel if someone admitted to straight up lifting your work when you helped develop and flesh out and establish a genre more and getting more popular then you? Wouldn't any normal person feel at least the slightest hint of resentment? Can you blame him? And despite that, Ogre still acknowledges these feelings are wrong in the lyrics and he shouldn't care and just focus on doing his own thing. So ultimately this song is Ogre introspecting more than anything else and it sounds to me like he isn't being critical towards other artists for selling out to appease a broader mainstream audience as many people might be led to believe as much as he is criticizing himself for even thinking about doing just that, hence the lyric, "Still sucking life from the mainstream?" Ogre realizes that he "thinks he's evil" for thinking about ripping off these artists, "but you're not," but he's not, realizing it's okay to feel that way as long as you don't dwell on these feelings to much and sell out and move on and continue upon your own personal artistic venture. Lecture/rant over. Now could we all just move on and enjoy the music with proper context?

In fairness, Trent was always respectful towards Puppy and gave credit where due. I got into NIN first, then checked out SP because Trent namechecked them.

I met him after a show, and he said something to me that I will never forget. Listening to this years later, I finally understand what he said when he spoke. And you're dead on... I listen to other artists, but Ogre and cKey created the medium.

@Princess Stomper Yes and no. SP and NIN have had some issues... early NIN Trent WAS respectful, but by Downward/Fragile era, kinda shit on SP... even though they had done work together.

@@replicant1988 Reznor was trying to distance himself from the comparisons during that peak it seems. It was like he was "Can I just have my moment for fucks sake?" Creating masterpieces like Downward spiral and the Fragile and having them be commercial and critical successes is no small feat (many REAL forgettable knockoffs and imitators would follow) NIN stood tall on its own merits by then. The comparisons were lazy at that point Reznor has come full circle (time and maturity will do that) and whole heartedly cites Puppy as influencial in recent interviews

the people that complain or praise one or the other artist have to realise that this video isnt supposed to be a serious 'shit talk' or 'naysay' about NIN or EMINEM. ogre and trent are both cool guys and played together in pigface, hes mostly poking fun at the artists here (he even said himself in an interview) much like how eminem rips on other artists in his own songs. its not to be taken to heart. its a good and catchy song, and is a sweet video. its musical, artistic. and its very much ohGr.

The fortune teller, Insane Clown Possse Trent,NiN And his march of pigs overwhelming Ohgr Eminem And lastly Ohgr himself reminiscent of his SP days Parody; Music Industry, Living up to, and binded to your past accomplishments.
