I ripped all these songs straight from the game files myself of the original CD, which I have two copies of, one opened and one sealed. They were converted into 320kbps MP3 from the original WMA files. They were then rendered into a 720p HD .WMV file.

I remember this era. It had a strange but interesting obsession with trying to bring back popular stuff from years before its time. In 1997 they tried to bring back scat AND swing, and evidently there was also a lot of 70's style funk happening with 90's instruments, like this one. Not bad, actually.

Both are phenomenal. I prefer GTA 1's soundtrack, but the scale and variety in GTA 2's is just something else. As much as I like the soundtrack to GTA 3, I do wonder just how that game would be with something completely original.

Mate, they didn't do anything of the sort. What happened was that the gaming industry gained so much traction in such a short amount of time that smart investors started realizing that "Wow, we can make money out of this" And it's easier and cheaper to license already made songs for our games(and less time consuming) for every other installment
