The Ohlins are awesome I have them on my 07 S2000. I also installed the spoon rigid collars at the same time. I hope you enjoy them as well as I do. Enjoy your car be safe and have fun.

The reason the ride height change is different from the change on the spring perch is you have to factor in the motion ratio of the suspension. See my video: You Need To Know Your Motion Ratio". Also I don't understand why you would put on different springs. I have always been happy with the spring rates that the kits come with. You should have tried the stock ones before putting on different ones so you could see if the change was beneficial. That being said, Ohlins springs come in many rates and you probably could have found an Ohlins spring in the rate you wanted.
@NAUS2K5 жыл бұрын
I did realize after this was posted about the motion ratio, that makes sense. And no, I primarily autocross and track this car so a 8k spring in the rear wasn't going to cut it. If i listened to ohlins and did 2mm preload with 8k spring in the rear id be bottoming out on the bumpstops easily. There are hundreds of threads about this online. Ive been running this setup for 2 years now and couldnt be happier with the 12k/10k setup. My s2000 has consistently put down some lap times comparable with some purpose built race car s2000's as well as many s2000s with full aero packages.
@theohlinsguy46495 жыл бұрын
@@NAUS2K I would have opted for the soft springs with more preload. One of the advantages of the Ohlins R&T kit is that you can set ride height and preload separately. Also if you have lowered the car you might be effecting the motion ratio. But if you are successful with that setup it is good.

Nice video tutorial! I'm hoping I can save up enough money to buy Ohlin's coilovers for my MK7 GTI this year. i am currently running BC Racing coilovers on it, and they are okay. More of an upper entry level coilover for this car. Getting Ohlin's is goals, and will allow my GTI to stand out among other GTI owners, as most GTI owners buy Bc Racing or KW coilovers.

To save my Ohlins i protect them with Tegiwa socks, so the thread is always clean.

Hello, 👋 the time came for me to install my ohlins dfv set. Only thing is they came with the 11k front and 7k rear. And Im thinking.. there's an ohlins 12k spring option (48010-39 ) why did you decide to go with Swift springs instead?
@NAUS2K2 ай бұрын
At this time it was just what was popular and what everyone was putting on the ohlins . Not sure if that’s still the case but this video is a good 6-7 years old now

@@NAUS2K Saw this video back in the day(different acc) and is one of the main reasons why I went with Ohlins(also you weighing everything) Still cant believe its my turn, grew up watching you😅 thinking of leaving the 11k front and placing 10k in the rear *square 245/40/17. Thank you for all the videos all these years and the s2000 content. You should definitely do more of 😃👍

Hello Naus, What brand is your vernier caliper mesuring tool ? I can't find the same 200mm. And, I am not sure to really understand the good way what you mean with the pre-load and ride height adjustment of the rear shock ? I have see the topic on S2ki but I don't understand the graph... Maybe i am too dumb...

Lime this is the karcepts kit for the rear, I have had the front bar In the car since last year with the stock suspension. It totally changes the car!

Hey man, great vid! I have an NFR AP1 too! How would you rate the install? I don't need a spring compressor to reuse anything from stock suspension right?
@NAUS2K4 жыл бұрын
Nope, no spring compressor needed. Pretty straight forward install !
@Jasserv5 жыл бұрын
Have you had any experience with the new kit with the updated springs and valving
@NAUS2K5 жыл бұрын
Jasserv no but the changes they made do not sound favorable to the way I wanted to setup my car. Decreasing the rear spring rate from 8k to 7k in the rear I do not think was the right direction . Regardless , even if I had the new kit, I would have upgraded the springs to 12k/10k anyways

Question about the rebound adjuster. What is it set at before you take the adjuster off to put the parts together? I fear that the right/left coilover are not equal in adjustment and I will screw it up.
@carlloftin28503 жыл бұрын
Do you have a long term review for this coilover?
@mrau92me4 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to pre-adjust and extend the ride height and not affect the spring preload before putting them on the car? In other words, if I have the spring perch's lock ring loose but the other lock ring is tight against the strut fork cup, if I hold the spring perch in place while turning the fork cup's lock ring to the left with the wrench, will it not turn the threaded tube with it and effectively extend the strut length without affecting spring preload?
@NAUS2K4 жыл бұрын
First you set the preload on the springs and lock the two rings together. Then you are free to break loose the bottom lock ring and adjust the overall length of the coil over independently (ride height) and not affect preload at all.
@mrau92me4 жыл бұрын
@@NAUS2K The problem with that is, if one wants to raise the car, there's a danger of disengaging too many threads of the tube from the fork cup. The manufacturer of the coilovers that I'm using on the rear of my G35 told me, for structural strength, a minimum of 80mm of the tube's threads need to be engaged into the fork cup (for lack of a better word). The bottom of the cup is open, not closed like yours. They told me my front coilovers, which is a closed design, is a minimum of 30mm of thread engagement. In the way I described in my previous post, both the threaded tube and the bottom cup will turn together such that the tube will only unthread from the spring perch ring.
