I had no clue that Trevor was only 18, i swear he looks 25 in the famous picture of him in the thumbnail. Didnt realize he was in a manic episode when I was a child, been having been through one, everything makes sense now. Poor guy never got a chance to learn from his mistakes. When I am in a manic episode, the thing I fear most after coming out of it, is that I hurt someone mentally or (worse) physically. I believe it was not his intention to kill other people.

@@imnotallergic this is the problem with mental health awareness in youth culture specifically. depressed = sad schizophrenic = crazy & hostile anxiety = scared/nervous manic = by choice - angry/crazy A manic episode can be lots of things. It manifests differently in different people. The notion that "this can happen to anyone" is not inherently true. Not everyone suffering from a manic episode will go on to harm others. Some people mask their episodes so well that nobody really notices they're experiencing one. In the case of McSkillet, this is what happened: >be 18 This indicates a major shift in brain development in nearly every person, it's a very fragile/hormonal state for some people. Although you're recognized as an adult at the age of 18, you're still many years behind reaching the apex of mental maturity. You're still a teenager, and your sense of self is still changing fairly rapidly as it does throughout your entire adolescence (ages 10-19, or according to some, 10-24). >now try being a multimillionaire at 18 Although it sounds awesome, owning multiple businesses at this age is extraordinarily challenging. This is why he had help in the form of colleagues who can "guide" him. Now, I can only assume that most of the people he associated with were shady to some degree and were generally untrustworthy, given the business they operated under. He was an 18 year old with an inflated sense of self worth (can happen to anyone with money like that, it's likely you'll feel superior in the sense that you "are", because you're more successful than 99% of people on earth). - Now that you're a very young millionaire with a supercar and "fame", you feel on top of the world. This is normal. - Be surrounded by people who provoke and support this behavior, because they too are hyper-rich gamer dorks. - Then, have your entire "empire" come crashing down once you realize that there are shady people who are looking to take advantage of you and steal your money/tank your fame. - Falling from such an extreme height to rock bottom is extremely damaging to your mental state. Now again, imagine being a fresh-faced teenager and experiencing this. When 40+ year old dudes take themselves out when stuff like this happens, I can only imagine the impact events like these have on an 18 year old. Actually, I don't have to imagine because I've suffered lesser versions of this and even those events put me in states of extreme depression (for months and years!), coupled with through the roof anxiety and a tendency to self-medicate with drugs that only serve to worsen my mental state in the long run, causing moderate paranoia and negative thought patterns that kept me locked in a state of misery. So, his money is at risk of being taken. His personal health or the health of his family is (potentially) at risk. It wouldn't surprise me if he felt paranoid or threatened. His career, and "life" as he knows it are at risk. He might believe that he's being tracked or stalked. As someone who's been stalked before (and I mean this legitimately, I've had my personal info taken, including my full name, address, and where I went to school, and have had things stolen from me as well, both car jackings and from my wallet) it's normal to feel paranoid when you're fully aware of the fact that people are 100% capable of ruining your life and invading your privacy. This is why he was talking to people about setting up tabs on his business partners in exchange for BTC, because he was paranoid. Now, in situations like these, the best course of action is to pull yourself out from the game with the money you have already earned. Millions of dollars will last you a lifetime of luxury if handled properly. You can always find yourself a fun job to keep yourself occupied while providing trickling income, with the knowledge that you have millions as a backstop. The world was this kids oyster, but with anything, he felt like he needed to stay, as many people do. Maybe if he left he thought there would be consequences. Maybe he was threated with them. Maybe he had a contract with someone. Maybe he was addicted to the money and freedom that came with it. Whatever the case, he just couldn't find a way out even though he desperately needed one. This led to his downfall. His mental state was rapidly deteriorating and he didn't notice in time. It's difficult for fully grown adults to predict, let alone a teen. This happens in 95% of all cases of manic episodes where someone just doesn't realize they're on the verge of breaking, and when they do, they're stuck in a full on state of delusion. This mental break can manifest as extreme paranoia, one that can't be shaken without psychological help. You might think the government is after you. You might think people want to harm you or hate you. You might think people are trying to poison you, so you stop eating. It can also manifest as grandiose delusions of power, in his case, believing that his life was a "video game". That he could do anything he wanted without consequence and that he was invincible. It sounds dumb, but it happens. Some people truly believe they can fly and then jump off a building only to, of course, not be able to fly. You can't convince them otherwise. They're stuck in a state of non-reality for any number of hours, days, or even months. There are again spectrums to the level of psychosis. For me, I was of the belief that I was developing schizophrenia, which caused me to be permanently anxious and feeling like I was going crazy, and that I would never be happy/normal again. This severe anxiety created mild hallucinations that only served to reinforce my belief that I was in fact going crazy/dying. Now, I could've snapped out of it sooner if I got help, I was in desperate need of reassurance and needed some clarity, but I choose to lock myself away for months instead, which then caused me to develop more issues. Inevitably I was able to convince myself that I was just experiencing extreme anxiety coupled with confirmation bias caused by googling symptoms, and realized that I needed to make some changes in the way I thought about life and myself. In this state I was still able to function to the point where people didn't know anything was particularly wrong with me. There are many people with much worse mental issues (like schizophrenia) who too can function "normally". Many of them learn to control their delusions/hallucinations and recognize them as unreal. Some of them even break free from their delusions/hallucinations fully. So, even though the majority of my thoughts were clouded by fear of death, fear of people, or fear of a complete psychotic break, there was still that voice in the back of my head that served as a beacon of reason. Some people lose this part of themselves which makes it impossible to recover on their own. Different people react in different ways to stressful life-altering events. Some people have strong enough will/knowledge of self that they basically tank it and fully recover in a healthy manner through means of self care + necessary interactions with professionals and loved ones. In the case of McSkillet, he suffered a full-on mental break. I am a believer that he did not intend to cause harm onto others. On the surface he may have appeared hostile, but he was "hostile" in the way a sickly dog, dying, scared, without food is "hostile". His mind turned on itself. I find it chilling that in his delusion, he plowed through that poster that said "steam" multiple times. It's funny on the surface, but by placing yourself in the shoes of someone in a state of psychosis, he probably thought that he was doing something cosmically significant, out of pure, animalistic impulse. He had no control over what his brain told him to do. He was at the mercy of his body going full autopilot, existing in a state of unreality he could not break free from without the (forced) help of others.

Ohnes chat is one of the worst I have ever seen. Seems like they can't take anything seriously. Why are you spamming "pause count", if you just want to watch the video THEN GO WATCH IT ALONE. You are watching Ohne, so you clearly want to see his opinions and takes on the subject, so why complain about it when he does? It is also extremely tiring to see, how much chat hates on Ohne. For an example Skinbid. Chat thinks Ohne running a marketplace is the same thing as a casino... Spamming all the Kappas in chat while Ohne is explaining it to them. Watching chat is almost unbearable.

I'm not a US citizen so I'll just go off of what they said, which is that if they wrongfully force him to take therapy, they could be facing jailtime. I have a friend who struggles with mental health issues. He hates his family, and he hates his friends, including me. He cuts his veins on a weekly basis, and whenever I try to sit down and talk with him about his problems, he puts on his headphones and starts walking really fast. I've also occasionally seen him running around the city at odd hours of the night. When I asked him why, he told me that he likes being alone at those times. Unfortunately, I live in a different country, so I only see him for about three weeks a year, and I'm scared he might do something harmful. He also says that he wishes to be in the same place as his dad, who is dead, which suggests what he wants to do. The moral of the story is that mental health problems are no joke. If you see someone who might be struggling, please try to comfort them and offer help. If you are going through something yourself, please seek help.

I think my opinion still stands after watching this. Even though it could've been prevented if he got help, I think his tendencies were suicidal. His statement about bullets not able to hurt him & saying that he thought he was in a video game doesn't add up. I'm no psychologist but other than driving recklessly & his bullet statement what other signs did he have that could support that idea? Threatening to harm your family then proceeding to drive onto an elementary school, then into oncoming traffic doesn't seem like someone thinking they're in a game. Sane or insane, the act was murder. I only feel bad for him because the help he needed wasn't given.

Both cases sound like dissociation + something else coming from someone who has dealt with dissociation. It can feel like watching a movie through the body of someone else and if the body died the movie would just end but you would still be there, if that makes sense. I have no idea what the something else part could be.

They actually acted pretty accordingly. Yes they could have done more, but you're also going off the power of hindsight and having all the facts. They had no proof of anything, just people giving subjective point of views and telling stories, which very well could have been false. I personally think they were a little callous and in this callousness they failed, since it's fairly obvious that the family and neighbor genuinely wanted help and didn't harbor ill-intent, but their hesitancy is also reasonable because people nowadays will try anything to get a dollar, even if it's at the expense of others (in this case potentially suing the cop for whatever law they can that was passed without this type of situation in mind). A good, recent example of this is the drama surrounding a mother who tried suing an anonymous sperm donor for child support (the information of who he was was improperly given to her under false pretense). Another is the entire reason we have the good samaritan law, because people will try at every chance to screw people over for monetary gain. Perhaps if the cops took the leap and risked it, perhaps if the family did a better job convincing the cops, perhaps if the parents took the keys to the car. We could sit here and do this all day, in the end it's hard to fault anyone here.

@@chuckbass7276 No, but it is usually enough for the police to talk to you. That is where they fumbled and got 3 people killed. They are supposed to assess if he seemed to be a danger to himself or others. The officers were correct that they cannot detain him on a 5150 just on the say-so of his parents or even the neighbor, because none of them are his mental health practitioner. Even a police officer isn't qualified to make the call that he should have been held for treatment. That is what the 72h hold of the 5150 is for, to allow a police officer to hold someone until they can be assessed by a psychiatrist. The fact that the reasoning for not wanting to talk to him was "that might set him off and lead to a confrontation" shows that the police were the right people to step in and assess the situation. Clear dereliction of duty.

To anyone who says they have no empathy for McSkillet: you are either willfully ignorant of the reality of a manic episode or just plain psychopathic and deserve to be in the same 5150 as him. I've got a couple (former i guess) friends that suffer from bipolar and its a very hard situation for everyone involved. For them, not being able to trust the people around them, at least from their perspective; but in truth what is hard is knowing who they should trust to be the reality check on your disordered thinking. Its hard for the people who love them feeling so powerless because you are in fact fighting for AND against the person who is manic to get them the help they need. Its hard for the mental health system and the state because there is a very real concern about where to draw the line between the safety of the manic person/the rest of us vs taking away a person's freedom to make choices in their own life, to imprison them against their will for "wrong thinking". I actually had to break contact with both of those friends because of how abusive they got whenever they were manic. I tried my best to be a good friend, "ride or die" is just how I am. But it became obvious I wasn't doing them any favors being a doormat for their inexcusable behavior, and as a mere friend I was not able to advocate for them in a more substantial way like a family member could. To this day I don't know if they are even still alive. During 2 years I knew them each had sincerely attempted to end their lives at least twice. I say "sincerely" because the attempts were serious to the point that it landed them in the ICU.

Not sure why you expect people to sympathize with a murderer regardless of their mental condition. Him being mentally ill doesn’t excuse anything. And he still doesn’t deserve nearly as much sympathy than the lives he took. In life you make decisions and sacrifices. Those who are severely mentally ill make the choice to seek help or to ignore it. In the end, he ultimately lost his mental battle. Nothing psychopathic about having no empathy for a murderer. Which is what he is…

0 empathy for him from my side. He made his money, that his dad was so proud of, advertising gambling sites for underage audience. Then his account got banned with thousands of dollars and dude flipped. And on top of that dude killed 2 persons in the process. God knows how many life's were ruined because of idiots like him and his friend Sparkless that were promoting underage gambling.

How does anything you wrote absolve him of killing a woman and her child?
@kacidy
@kacidy 4 ай бұрын
@@ab12345cdf First, its a medical condition, not a choice he made. If instead of bipolar mania he had suffered an aneurysm or aortic rupture and swerved into oncoming traffic would you still be so condemning? Second, what should have prevented all this from happening was the officers who refused to follow standard procedure: interview him to make sure he wasn't a danger to himself/others. You clearly don't understand what any of this means, so instead you dumb it down into a black and white morality story. It's harder to confront the complexity of the facts in this tragedy, but sadly whats right is rarely easy.
@kacidy
@kacidy 4 ай бұрын
@@maeryum Please educate yourself on bipolar mania. He doesn't deserve more or less sympathy than the others who died in that crash. We have a culture that creates an illusion of mental health being a personal responsibility rather than a communal one. Its why mental health care isn't funded, its why mass shootings, addiction, homelessness and suicide are an epidemic in the United States. "He made a choice" only makes sense if you don't understand that his condition is specifically a disordering of parts of his brain involved in decision-making. You are not better than him because you "make better decisions". You are lucky. Lucky you didn't roll snake eyes on the brain lottery that we all play just by being born.
