one of my former best friends introduced me to this movie, and we're no longer friends anymore. i remember singing this song with him on a bus in Germany and it makes me laugh and cry at the same time. i don't usually comment on youtube videos but i felt compelled to write this for whatever reason and the odds of you finding this in the sea of comments are virtually zero. r, if you ever see this, whether it's years or decades down the line, i wish you the best :)

Ryan Gosling was robbed of an oscar for his performance in La La Land and the main reason is he learnt piano for his face to look more natural while playing the instrument . He also danced and sang so well in this masterpiece. His acting was so flawless perfect and expressive yet mostly subtle hitting all the right notes .

The aesthetics in this movie are amazing. A little fun fact, when the two are separated lots of the primary colors are used (red, yellow, blue). For example his blue suit her yellow dress and red purse. But as they start to come together greens purples and oranges are used. In this video the sunsets turns orange and purple because they are starting to come together. The secondary colors are used as symbolism because they are a blend of the primary colors so it used to show them coming and blending together. If that makes senss

I would disagree, I thought the ending was incredibly frustrating. I mean if you are truly in love you would be willing willing to at least slightly modify your life plans to accommodate the relationship, instead of ditching a relationship just because it slightly interfered with your life goal.

some people be like "i wish they had ended up together" but i think it's better that they didn't. because it gives the movie a realism and a maturity and it stands out from mainstream hollywood productions. i feel like if they had ended up together this movie wouldn't be as great. It would be seen as another rom-com whereas the end turns it all around. Also that look they shared at the end of the movie in the jazz bar was everything. it summed it up perfectly.

Lyrics: (They start singing at 1:08 ) The sun is nearly gone The lights are turning on A silver shine that stretches to the sea We've stumbled on a view That's tailor-made for two What a shame those two are you and me . Some other girl and guy Would love this swirling sky But there's only you and I And we've got no shot . This could never be You're not the type for me (really?) And there's not a spark in sight What a waste of a lovely night . You say there's nothing here? Well, let's make something clear I think I'll be the one to make that call (but you'll call?) And though you looked so cute In your polyester suit (it's wool) You're right, I'd never fall for you at all . And maybe this appeals To someone not in heels Or to any girl who feels There's some chance for romance . But, I'm frankly feeling nothing Is that so? Or it could be less than nothing Good to know, so you agree? That's right What a waste of a lovely night

It's just meant to be imitating the classic style of movie in which so many had tap dancing scenes & of course included the clicking sound of the shoes so the tap dancing scenes would add to the musical texture... u never watch TCM or fox classics channel? no fred astaire or gene kelly? i personally find the scenes i've watched of this movie here on youtube so self aware it's cringey ! also a bit annoying that they had the opportunity to cast ppl who are not yr typical white couple in classic lead roles but didn't do that. Laura Irene This not the type of movie I would usually even put in the conversation for the best of all time. I'm a self-confessed film-nerd that usually likes complex, dark, thought-provoking films...... but..... I completely agree! I can honestly say La La Land is one of the best films I've ever seen. The music is perfection, the way it's shot is like every frame is a beautiful painting, the acting is intentionally understated and relatable, and the transitions are creative, clever, and flawlessly executed. I haven't been blown away by every aspect of a film like that in a long time, if ever. As a man that loves sports, beer, cars, etc... I can definitely say this film is NOT just a 'chick flick'. It might just be a modern masterpiece.

I would recommend Gene Kelly films made back in the 50's like Singin' In The Rain and An American In Paris. Those films inspired Damien Chazelle and Justin Hurwitz in a huge way, you could notice that from the use of studios and props in some parts of the film to give it a classic look. In addition to Top Hat and Swing Time which was made inthe 30's and featured legends of musicals Fredn and Ginger. A Start is Born might give a Musical Vibe, but If you want something just like La La Land, my recommendations won't dissapoint you.

Even though our characters don’t end up together at the end, it present a realistic outcome and even though it doesn’t seem like they don’t get together, they will always be together cause they have each other to thank for getting to there stardom.

I love Emma Watson's acting, but from her singing performance from Beauty and The Beast, I don't think she could've held her own during The Fools Who Dream. Emma Stone deserved her Oscar for that song alone. Miles Teller was excellent in Whiplash, but I don't really see him doing a Romantic Musical type film. Gosling and Stone were perfect for these characters.

i feel the same way! i was reading some reviews of it on amazon bc i wanna get another dvd of the movie, and there's just some people that dislike it. what i like, though, is how bold it is to come out with a extravagant musical movie in such a modern time! just thinking of how this is my favorite movie ever and how there's people that don't like it reminds me of how not everyone will like the same things or that not everyone will like you, and that's okay! :') you're right tho, such bops!!!

[Sebastian] The sun is nearly gone The lights are turning on A silver shine that stretches to the sea We've stumbled on a view That's tailor-made for two What a shame those two are you and me Some other girl and guy Would love this swirling sky But there's only you and I And we've got no shot This could never be You're not the type for me [Mia] Really? [Sebastian] And there's not a spark in sight What a waste of a lovely night [Mia] You say there's nothing here? Well, let's make something clear I think I'll be the one to make that call [Sebastian] But you'll call? [Mia] And though you looked so cute In your polyester suit [Sebastian] It's wool [Mia] You're right, I'd never fall for you at all And maybe this appeals To someone not in heels Or to any girl who feels There's some chance for romance But, I'm frankly feeling nothing [Sebastian] Is that so? [Mia] Or it could be less than nothing [Sebastian] Good to know So you agree? [Mia] That's right [Sebastian and Mia] What a waste of a lovely nigh

Me and my girlfriend broke up a week after watching this film. I have the soundtrack on my Ipod and generally love it, or at least i loved it when I was in a relationship. I've tried to find the right word to describe what this film means to me now. Having broken up after 3 and a half years. I can't listen to the songs the same way or even comprehend watching this film ever again, It haunts me..

I think this movie shows you two things about love and Life. One is that when hoy grow Up a relationship is not only love. And the second one and mayhaps why you split Up.. everyone deserves and wants a love like this. And your girlfriends probably... they looked to you and couldnt feel that. So they might have looked onto your side and thougt.. dude What are we doing here? They werent the right ones if they felt unsure about your love or about you for this film. This films are gorgeous but show unrealistic clichés about love. If you compare these with reality you ll probably end up disspointed

I think this is one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen. The sounds and the cinematography are spot -on! And the fact that this was all ONE SHOT is phenomenal. Also, I can't get this song out of my head! (I'm really feeling nothing - Is that so? - Or it could be less than nothing - good to know!) The juxtaposition is great.
