Yeah Yamamoto didn’t worth the salary this season. But I feel this lady is only looking at the stats. I think she haven’t seen Yamamoto’s stuff closely. Imanaga is a good smart pitcher and I like him.but, I think everyone will agree that once you look at the stuff Yamamoto throws, you’ll know .he has way better A+ potential . She’s not watching the game just talking from the stats. By the way,Sorry for my bad English I’m from Japan. I’ve been watching Yamamoto for quite a while, and I feel he will top Ohtani as a Pitcher He’s that good.

You can’t just look at spin rate and/or velocity. Right vs Left is highly important. Lefties are a rarity which is what made Imanaga more of a better choice to start with. Came cheaper too plus Roki Sasaki is out there and the Dodgers have a gang load of right handed pitchers and even prospects. It is what it is though. I actually believe the Dodgers though that Yamamoto might be able to have more endurance if he back off on some pitches but it hasn’t worked out that way. This same problem exists for Dustin May. He has to throw hard to have any success. Ohtani has to be used sparingly himself in 2025.

In Japan, pitchers take extra rest. This doesn't mean pitchers who come here need extra rest. Imanga, Kikuchi, and healthy Darvish all pitch every five days. It is Dodgers' front office who chose to be overprotective with Yamamoto. They also thought that the six men rotation would suit their collection of fragile pitchers such as Glasnow and rehabbing Buehler, Kershaw and such.

Hindsight's 20/20. Rojas could've easily just have bunted into a triple play. Or Rojas could've bunted successfully and Ohtani strike out, Betts pop out. We lost. We had 9 innings to score but didn't. WAYYY too much focus on the last play
@Publiclighthouse
@Publiclighthouse 2 күн бұрын
The point is, the opportunity was lost with that triple play. If the scenario plays out like you wrote above, then at the very least those hitters had the chance to win the game. But they were left on deck and in the dugout.

@@Publiclighthouse We were down going into the 9th inning and then we lost, and that's nothing to be surprised about. You got your hopes up because 2 runners got on but that counts for nothing. We had opportunities. Miggy had an opportunity. We also had 24 other opportunities through 8 that didn't pan out the way we wanted. Casual fans focus too much on whatever makes their feed and then blame the manager. Whatever, it's 1 game. 1 week from now everyone will forget about it

With the injuries we're having with starting pitching it appears we are heading into the playoffs like we did last year: a crippled second tier cadre of starters (an injured Kershaw, rookie Bobby Miller, and Lance Lynn). Looks like it will be Yamamoto, Flahrety, and Walker Bhuler? What's with all the injuries to Dodger pitches? Are they into some extreme training regimen that's over taxing their elbows and shoulders? Or are they pushing for too much velocity all the time? It's a shame to spend billions on players just to see them go down with injuries . . .
@ryanc9876
@ryanc9876 2 күн бұрын
The Yamamoto disrespect is unwarranted. Maybe we should regret (re)signing Muncy a few seasons ago when he got injured just before the playoffs with a play at first base. Or not trading Belli in 2021 after he got hurt in the 2020 playoffs. Imanaga is having a great year, but he's not worth the length of a Yamamoto contract. They're not paying Yamamoto for 1 year, just like the 700million isn't for just this year for Ohtani. Are we that short sighted?
@MyHomeIsVegas-nc1fb
@MyHomeIsVegas-nc1fb 2 күн бұрын
To me, the biggest differences between Yamamoto and Imanaga are maturities and mind set. Yamamoto is 26, Imanaga is 31. Yamamoto joined NPB right after highschool and Imanaga is a college graduate. It's not just about being a pro ball player, it's also about how much experienced, well adjusted as an adult. I think he knows a lot more how to go about things than Yamamoto. Also he is older so I think he is more determined knowing this might be the last opportunity to do something in MLB. I don't think he wants to go back to Japan and viewed as a failure. Just by listening to his interview, you can tell how confident and sure of himself, he is. I'm not saying Yamamoto is immature or doesn't know what he is doing but I see he is not at Imanaga level mentally. (Don't get me wrong, I think Yamamoto is naturally more talented than Imanaga) This is Yamamotos first year as a dodger so he's got 11 more years to prove what he's worth. It's not fair to judge him at this point.

As of now, given Walker's great improvement, we can only hope Jack and Yoshinobu can go for 6 innings at least and for Walker to have at least that same type of outing being our number 3 starter. Knack and, as it looks like, Casparius being ready to piggyback in case ther former can't give length
@edomarpez1840
@edomarpez1840 Күн бұрын
To be mad at Yoshinobu is being shortsihgted, it's his 1st year at the majors (I even expected him to do worst); the thing with Tyler is they "overused" him in the 1st half of the season and that's not on him. On the other hand, going after Snell or stronger on Nola was not the answer, they should've gone for Cease for that matter but, in reality, the fumble was at the deadline, it was more than obvious then they needed 2 starters not just 1, aka Eflin or Kikuchi, none of them being expensive and when the farm is getting old without any use

Hard to believe the Starting pitching will hold up in the playoffs, it seems when it comes to playoff time, it's the same result, different year!! A bit pessimistic view on Yama. Yama won 3 Cy Young equivalents in Japan in a row and only 25 so he has the talent and runway to get even better. I'm expecting him to take off next year since he is a rookie here, but he is already a really good pitcher if you look at his totals even outside of the first game in Korea. What he did against the Yankees (7 shutout innings) is his potential. So he will be worth his contract assuming he doesn't get any major injuries in the next few years. Also, let's see how he does during the playoffs this year. Hopefully the time off will be a blessing in disguise.
