just subscribed to your channel, your explanations are clear and your camera work is steady and precise, well done ,just a note on oil, esp if for the vehicles that are running the DEF systems i believe, I saw one fellow using Mobile 1 diesel truck oil for 500k miles and no issues, I disconnected the DEF system because it was costing way too much for repairs first 2 were $1500 each, def heater and nox sensors so out it came, now I get much better fuel economy and horse power went up to 244. 2014 2500 170 converted now just reached 300,000km, which is 180,000 miles, so did all my fluid changes and filter changes, added Sumo springs, shocks, struts, winter tyres, still to do, add a Hellwig sway bar, change windshield. paint the rocker panels, plastic trim, and bonnet with a bully paint bed liner black, its like a raptor paint but water based made in Australia, water base make sit easy for clean up and touch ups if needed.

Thank you for the video. It is normal for diesel engines to have black oil due to combustion. Just make sure the oil and filter are replaced timely. When I change the engine oil on my 2015 Sprinter, they get black very quickly.

I just changed my Oil today with 10,000 miles on it, MB recommends 20,000 miles. I am little concerned about this interval, especially because of my application which is Light Duty, its my Daily Driver, maybe 20 miles per day. This is my second LOF and I wanted to do it early and have the Oil Evaluated at a Lab to see how the Oil is holding up in my application, We will see. BTW, Caterpillar sells an Oil Test Kit for $20.00, which includes a Sample Bottle/Postage to the Lab/E mailed Report. When I get the Report back, I'll be able to make an informed decision on the Mileage Interval!

I check in the other good car and shows the same with the plug disconnect. Any of you guys has heard anything about that, any ideas what could be, thanks

Even though you just change the oil, your indicator showed 10.2 quarts of oil in there. Why is that since you put in 12 quarts? My dipstick did not show oil so I guess I need to run the engine a little longer?
@mercedessprinterdiy85563 жыл бұрын
Most likely
@NibrocNod2 жыл бұрын
When a dipstick "doesnt" show oil, that is NOT the time to keep running the engine. That means it's extremely low on oil. Add some oil instead. Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle into the oil pan then check the dipstick again.

Thanks a lot for this video. I changed the oil and replaced filter myself yesterday for the first time thanks to your video. Would you please share the exact tool you used to open the filter housing? I managed using pliers moving the windshield container liquid but would like to have the right tool for next time.

@@mercedessprinterdiy8556 so, the first time I drove after the oil change, oil sprayed all over coming out from the filter canister. I thought I probably tied the gasket too much and order a new filter and gasket. I’ve tried with several ones until I received the Bosch 72263WS that is in your video. This filter is quite different in size and has a plastic structure inside, so I’m not sure I can use this either? I need help 😞

Don't take a chance with that pretty driveway... Pull it over the grass, regardless if you have that cardboard down there.

Great idea but usually there's no spills and the cardboard will help for any little spills thanks for watching

MS says to change the sprinter oil after 15,000 miles but after 14,000 miles your oil looks real bad. I think MB should rethink this oil change intervals.
@mercedessprinterdiy85564 жыл бұрын
yes i agree i do mine about 10000 to 12000 miles because 15000 is too much

@MercedesSprinterDIY, really appreciate your videos. Super clear. Question: When I plugged in 2016 Sprinter 3500 3.0 on the Mobil site is it recommending "your vehicle manufacturer recommends a 0W-30 or 0W-40 viscosity and oil that meets MB-Approval 228.51, MB-Approval 229.31, MB-Approval 229.51 or MB-Approval 229.52." But my local Mercedes parts person says, ESP 5W-30 (which is what you are using in video). Do you know if ESP 0W-30 is just as acceptable as ESP 5W-30? Grandpa Ron here says either: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqHKhpWBmtekrM0

ESP 5W-30 is what the dealer recommends here is the link if you want to see the specs is what i always use by Mercedes specs

This tutorial needs improvement. >Remove the filter first, to release more used oil to the bottom. >ALWAYS replace the washer on the drain bolt or it will leak. >Always use a torque wrench on the drain bolt (unless you're experienced enough)

Thank you for your great observation👍👍

On a side note, you are devaluing the vehicle by not having it serviced at a qualified mechanics, since the log books won't be filled in and there will be no record of it's regular service, plus any incidental checks, such as brakes, bushings and transmission leaks that may happen without your knowledge can lead to greater damage if not caught before a catastrophic failure. Not so much an issue on a second hand vehicle, but on a new vehicle you really want to think about devaluation and resale value. Just something to consider.

I sold a 2017 4x4 on ebay, and the lack of a $2000+ oil change stamp by a mb dealer had no bearing on my sale price. A lucid explanation along with my own documentation worked fine.

You should have shown the oil level on the dip stick👎🏿
