So I bought the Mishimoto Ultimate Bundle Kit and the oil cooler came with both Thermostatic and Non-Thermostatic. Im confused on the install on the oil filter part. I replaced 2 Ancillary hoses that lead to the oil filter housing. Would this be considered Non-Thernostatic? I was confused to where the black Ancillary hose with orange on the inside goes. I think i may have understood where that goes now from your demonstration. However if i go thermostatic, what do I do with the 2 extra Ancillary hoses that came in the kit?
@mishimoto Жыл бұрын
We would highly recommend contacting our team for installation help at support@mishimoto.com. The bundle we include should come with the thermostatic plate within the oil cooler, not both. Either plate should not disrupt the OEM cooler and hoses that go to it.

You can add a bit of oil to this (~0.25 quart), however, it's not necessary ad the oil pressure will fill the cooler up quickly once the first start up occurs.

Hi, so when it's time for your first oil change after installation of the oil cooler; would you just fill the stsndard 5.1 litres or would it be 5.1+ 0.75 litres (again)? My current thoughts are that it would be 5.1 L only as the extra 0.75 oil stays in the cooler?

Hey Jeff, unless you are emptying the cooler and lines, you will fill the system the same as usual. If you remove the cooler and lines, you will need to add additional oil.

besides a catch can, can you install a AoS with this oil cooler?
@mishimoto Жыл бұрын
We aren't sure of what you are asking here. A catch can is a ail/oil separator. An AOS is completely separate system when compared to an oil cooler.

“Totally different systems and yeah this would be fine. The oil cooler will install at the front and run two tubes to a plate that goes between your oil filter and the place underneath it. An AOS intercepts the ccv line and pcv line. Along with the plumbing of coolant. But totally different systems they work with.”

How it changed oil from the oil cooler when need oil change?
@mishimoto6 жыл бұрын
Hey Sky, most customers will leave the old oil in the cooler as it is a minor amount and won't affect the new oil by much as long as you are following the standard oil change intervals. Some do choose to pull and drain the cooler, but this will wear on your connections over time.
@skywu58396 жыл бұрын
@@mishimoto cooler contain 0.75 quart oil, but that's enough to contaminated the fresh oil. Suppose to have drain plug on cooler, or adapter from hose to pump out the old oil
@mishimoto6 жыл бұрын
Assuming your oil change intervals are kept standard, you won't have issues with contaminated oil as the cooler is prior to your filter. Your new filter should be collecting these particles thoroughly enough to not require removing the cooler. We have time attack vehicles with multiple oil coolers that don't pull theirs to drain.
@averyalexander23035 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about it, but a very easy way you could drain the cooler and lines without taking the cooler off is to disconnect both lines at the sandwich plate and blow low pressure compressed air through the cooler and lines to push the old oil out. The problem with this is the engine won't get oil flow for the couple seconds it takes for the cooler to fill back up unless you refill it with oil somehow. Another way is after you change the oil and replace the filter, disconnect the cooler's return line from the sandwich plate, place it in a bucket, and run the engine for a couple seconds or until you see clean oil coming out. This will push fresh oil through the cooler and lines to push the old oil out. I know this method works with a non thermostatic sandwich plate, but it might work with a thermostatic model too since the thermostat never completely closes off. But just as with the first method, the problem with doing it this way is that the engine runs without oil flow for the couple seconds it would take to push the old oil out of the cooler and lines. This won't do any damage since the engine will be idling with no load on it and everything is still coated in oil, but leaving the old oil in the cooler won't do any damage either. The choice is yours whether you would rather run the engine for a couple seconds without oil flow, take the bumper off and drain and refill the cooler every time you change the oil, or leave a bit of old oil in the system.
