This filter is hard to remove and you need a special tool to do it . Dont forget to remove the pin or the cap wont turn

Have you ever tried removing that oil filter cap without touching that little tab as you called it. You said it had to come off? I've seen other videos that removed the oil filter cap without touching that tab and without any problem!

I've never removed the retaining clip on our RAV4 and never had a problem removing or replacing the oil filter cap.

That is because the lazy tech who did the change last never bent it back in place , its a cotter key action not a spring

Just got told by Walmart tech the filter is "over tightened", after watching two other videos first I learned nothing. After watching This Video, Now I know what He did wrong, what I have to buy and, either I do the job myself or teach Walmart how and go buy my own correct wrench.

It IS possible to drain that oil filter AND make less of a mess. Either do it with a small plastic bottle or by attaching a piece of hose to the drain adapter. Yes it may take three to five minutes more but some of us have nothing else to do anyway

If you can get the metal cap off of the filter housing, the new filter comes with a drain you screw in to the filter housing so. You don’t get oil on your hands

There's a small little O-ring inside of that bottom drain. Is it not necessary to replace that now and then? I hate trying to get that little piece off because you have to hold the rest of the filter housing still somehow which is difficult especially when it's slick with oil.

My oil drain bolt is stuck. Is it reverse thread? I know you don't remove it, but it spins the whole cartridge!

The Corolla takes a different sized filter and the oil filter cap is also a little different. Same principle though.

There are kits to modify this type of a crap plastic oil filter housing with a true long proven regular metal oil filter. They're about $200.

The plastic piece does indeed go into the aluminum cap. Its to reduce the slip radius.

I would advise not to improvise when you dont have that filter housing remover. I did that the first time changing my oil on my 2016 Camry and broke the filter housing cap but it was still seized. I finnaly went to autozone and got the remover for 12 bucks. It was worth it.

Although it's supposed to be torqued to 18ft lbs, the oil filter clip is to prevent the filter to become loose with vibration.

drill self tapping screws threw it , you drill the wrench directly to it , i have the video but no time to find it for you

3/8". Seems like yours is stuck then. Or it was tighter than the filter itself. Guess that makes it easier but a lil more messy.
