Oil Painting Tutorial #18 "Old Dirt Road" by Kaylee Rakowski

Hello All! Welcome back to my channel! Kaylee here, and it’s #TutorialTuesday! I am sorry to be a little late today, I had an argument with every piece of technology I own while preparing this video for you all ... but my patience paid off... I HOPE.
Today, we’re diving into Tutorial #18, where I’ll be showing you how to create a stunning autumn-themed wet-on-wet oil painting. I am calling it “Old Dirt Road.” (I know, really original) Trust me though, you won't want to miss this one!
In this tutorial, we’ll be painting a beautiful scene of blue-grey skies above an old dirt road that stretches from the foreground to the distant third of the canvas. You’ll feel like you’re standing under a huge, finger-like tree canopy, with leaves in stunning shades of gold, auburn, and yellow, all glowing in the warm autumn sun. The peaceful silence envelops you, allowing the stunning beauty of nature to truly shine.

This is a simple, fun, and straightforward oil painting that’s perfect for all skill levels! Grab your brushes and paint along with me as we explore this joyful journey together. Let’s learn and create beautiful art side by side!
As we paint today, I’ll share tips on how to achieve that soft, blended look characteristic of wet-on-wet oil painting. Keep your brushes clean and your palette organized for the best results! Remember to layer your colors and let the brush do the work for you. The key to capturing that autumn glow is in the blending!

Fabulous. I can’t help but think that Bob Ross would love this. He’d be surprised and delighted to see how his technique could be adapted and applied to allow artists to take it to another level. Pieces like this capture the spirit or the essence of Bob Ross, but they also express the creativity and imagination of the INDIVIDUAL artist. He would high-five you if he could.

Another gorgeous painting! You've captured the essence of the Fall season. The multitude of colors in the leaves pop out of the canvas. I think the song the leaves are singing is 'Autumn Leaves'. Are you getting used to the non-pallet pallet to place your paints. Last time you mentioned it was not easy on the wrist. Lastly, is this your longest tutorial? Thanks.

Thanks for mentioning my home state. Tennessee. Looks like Tennessee for sure. To bad can’t put a tobacco barn in with it smoking and have the smell of sweetness and smoke sitting in valleys. The smell is always so sweet smelling.
