Kentucky Twilight: A Sunset in Red River Gorge
Welcome to another very simple #TutorialTuesday, where we paint, relax, and explore the beauty of nature together. In today’s simple wet-on-wet oil painting tutorial, I’ll guide you through creating Kentucky Twilight, inspired by the breathtaking Natural Bridge in Red River Gorge, Kentucky. With hues of crimson and lavender skies over autumn’s golden reds, this sunset captures the peaceful magic of fall.

What You’ll Need to Paint Along
For this painting, I’m using:
Colors: Titanium White, Yellow Ochre, Indian Yellow, Bright Red, Alizarin Crimson, Sap Green, Prussian Blue, Dark Sienna, Van Dyke Brown, and Liquid White. I also mix Sap Green and Crimson in equal parts for richer dark tones.
Tools: I primarily use Bob Ross tools, along with my magic sable brushes in red and black, and a few no-name knives I’ve picked up over time. They’re nothing fancy, just tools I enjoy using when inspiration strikes.

I live in Ky and am very familiar with Natural Bridge near Stanton, Ky. It was always a great place to go spend the day, have a picnic, and walk the trails. Thanks for the painting and sharing a bit of Ky with the rest of the world.

I don’t live in Ky. But do in Tennessee. And yes. Foggy misty days and temps change like crazy. Part of the fog is why Smokies called Smokies. Love your work. And love this painting

Great painting but a little bright for a twilight? I found your 5 second pause at the end humorous as on a movie set where the actors are waiting for the director to yell "ACTION!" and then they start talking, moving as the scene requires. As a follow-up to this painting, you should call it 'Kentucky Bourbon' and paint a bottle of bourbon. Andy Warhol had the nerve to paint a Campbell's Soup can and call it art. Why not paint a booze bottle.

I’ve seen some bright subsets in my time, but who knows. Love your idea of the bourbon bottle haha and yes! The end… I can make filming kinda awkward sometimes but that me!
