Thanks for the upload! I’m hoping this fixes the cracked oil pan on my bus, which is a discontinued part (50 series Detroit). I’m up in Flag so I’ll have to remove the whole thing to work on it inside where its warmer. It cures best at 77F or above. I will use the SteelStik over it, which will hold up to 900psi. The cold weld JB weld epoxy says it holds up to 5020psi and a diesel system is only 200psi peak so this should work.

Agreed! Thx for watching Wildflowers and you kind comments! Sounds like you got it figured out! Good luck with your project! JB Weld is an amazing product over the years I have used it for many things and it always works! Even patched a radiator reservoir when I was driving to Lake Tahoe on vacation and that worked too! High pressure and heat! 😎👍

Update: Addes flex seal patches and another $20 of regular strength jb weld. Still leaking. I've got $120 into patching and is still leaking. Should have just replaced it. Do not waste your money on jb weld if the hole is as large as your thumb. Telling you from experience.

Good story but video should be more concise. Having to watch the unpacking of jack stands was too long and unnecessary. Had to skip ahead for some parts as result.

What a coincidence, I literally just hit a brick someone left in the middle of a dirt road right off I-10 in buckeye and it cracked my oil pan too! Here I am trying to figure out if this will work for a short term fix and the first video I watch is this one where you hit a trailer hitch on i-10! Small world

Ugh, 106F, I would pass out. It was 26F today here in central Maine and the same for the next few days (then a high of 2F expected on Tuesday). Probably the stuff won’t even cure at these temps. I’ve got a leaky oil pan but at 236k miles the old Cherokee isn’t worth the cost to do a full replacement. I just need it to last until spring (May) when the snow will be gone and I can drive my sports car again. 😬

The JB weld is about to fix the oil pan on my CMX500 motorcycle, I gave myself a Ozark mountain oil change. The job weld will have to patch the broke one until the one replacements are back in stock for reasonable prices again.. if that ever happens

Lucky it was just a crack. I bought this 2 part epoxy twice. Painted it it on with a better brush because the one they give you is tiny. Now I just put the jb weld putty on over that. It says it sets in 5 minutes but its been 40 minutes and is still gooey and falling off. Have to keep going out every 5 minutes and resetting it with my fingers. I also have another bottle of putty if this doesn't work. So, so far invested $50 worth into JB weld products for a hole a little bigger than a penny and it has not really worked. It's still leaking. I don't think they should advertise this product as a permanent fix because after 2 weeks I can tell you it is just something temporary until you get your problem fixed. I am ordering a new oil pan immediately.

lol, after applying, wait 24 hours, or more; I put on a 1/4" hole, its giving me the life of 4 years, no leak, this glue will stick to metal or aluminum but not on the greasy pan, mate you gotta clean it up nicely

Sorry you had so much trouble, it does not work well if there are holes in pan mine was just cracked. The engine builds up a lot of pressure in the pan when it’s running so to try and patch a hole will be most likely unsuccessful. Thx for watching hope it all works out for you! 😎👍

Would jb weld putty work the same , because I have a dime size hole on my upper oil pan on my nissan versa with one inch hair line cracks around the hole , I thought about using small piece of metal mesh window screen and putty the screen and wood clamp to brace it for a day or two for a full hardened process . Hit me up on better ways to fix my dime size hole with crack's, thank you.
@OldGuyzGarage
@OldGuyzGarage 3 жыл бұрын
I think you have the right idea, using some kind of metal mesh in the middle. Good luck with your project. You may want consider putting on a new pan because if it doesn’t work and you lose all your oil or enough of it you could ruin your engine which would be a lot more expensive than changing out the pan.
@sissygirl3050
@sissygirl3050 3 жыл бұрын
I look at the oil pan alot closer and found out there was more cracks in the oil pan and it requires a motor over haul due to the timing chain connect to the oil pump that inside the oil pan and the main seals on both sides have to be compressed on the timing chain and the transmission side , which I don't have the right equipment to disassemble or take out the motor . I have to let a mechanic do all that work for me and my wallet. Thanks for listening and I'll be watching your videos.

Update: added 2 more jb weld steel sticks and attempted to seal that with gorilla glue adhesive. A couple hours later it all fell off. I think this product only works on pin-prick sized holes. My hole was originally a little bigger than a penny. $75 worth of liquid weld and adhesive products and still have a leak. I will buy a new oil pan this week.I was told this stuff works and now I'm pissed. I do not recommend JB weld. It is a garbage product.

You had a whole different problem. You cannot blame the product. Did you really expect it to seal a wide open hole? You would done better to epoxy a piece of metal over the hole. It is amazing how poor of a job people do then blame the product. I have probably saved $5000 or more over the years with JB Weld.
