Praise to anyone that wants to grab some iron in the derrick. Work overs were always more fun than a digging rig.

He's lucky he probably only works where it's hot all year. You keep your hand on the pipe while the tongs kick in and if you glove freezes to the pipe it's ripping you right out off that monkey board

Wdym your supposed to help when you can always! ... I had a dude when our rod tongs messed up, he would still help out of habit, start the thread until it stopped because he realized a stand after what we were doing this dude went all out for the rest of the work day! He helped so much the floor hand would have to let go because he was spinning so fast up top. Like wtf have we had some many jokes about the dude we say he is a hammer, he is the jack, he is the one!!! Hahahaha 😅 funny thing is he thought I was more then him for some legit reasons... But I had to come back home to help my 70 years old dad when no one else will which let's just says........... But I'ma go back and I will be known!!!!

Sometimes the floor hands would send the elevator up backwards, then you got to twirl it back and latch the elevator not slowing down.

@@rogermcmahon1219 What kind of toolpush or driller would let that shit happen. Don't even get me started on the consultant. You've obviously never been on a rig in your life. Wells produce flammable gas. Any open flame around the wellhead is the easiest way to kill a crew.

@@ras8558 Only time we saw the pusher was when he was dropping off paint or rig-up/rig-down. 10 barrel a day wells that had to be fracked. 1st bit through the shoe we were getting 1000 ft in 8 hours. Live dangerous, drive Hwy 59 Douglas to Gillette, no pussies allowed 74-78.

Notice on most derrick videos that after you throw the pipe into the elevator’s, (no matter what type of rig) it’s also the derrick man job to see the elevator’s are totally latched. At that point, it’s also his job to shut the connection down, if not latched.
@rigger88
@rigger88 3 жыл бұрын
If elevator is not completely latched-shut and is left partially open Derrick hand usually shouts out "snag" to floorhand, I usually always look up after latching to make sure door is shut especially with drill collars don't want floorhand getting any derrickman- donuts on foot haha

The stand could fall across the derrick and is a pain to get back... usually requires air hoists and a lot of cursing
