You couldn't dream up this series how it evolved for both team. This was a real life struggle. One moment you think you have all figured out, the next you find yourself hanging on for dear life. This was quite remarkable to witness. The Human aspect. The resilience. Both teams have tremendous character and unfortunately one had to lose, but that does not mean they couldn't be winners. FL just found their game just in time, after Edmonton play theirs for 3 straight games. One of the most accelerating NHL finals in recent memory. Congrats to FL & Edmonton for entertaining experience .

Yes, Bettman has rigged 31 years of hockey results, involving hundreds if not thousands of people (who've all kept quiet). Orrrrr...Canadian teams play in cold weather where FAs don't want to go, are heaviy taxed, require long cross-continent flights including customs, have fans and media that hound players, have a weak dollar, and have had some bad luck in game 7s. Nope, none of that. Just Bettman. PS American media was 80% pro-Edmonton. The league grows way more if its biggest star wins a Cup, not if a team with a small fanbase wins 🙄

At least a team from Alberta got to a Stanley Cup final, something that hadn't happened since before the 2009-10 NHL season. Indeed not since the Canucks had made it to a Cup final all the way back in 2011 had a non-Habs Canadian team made it that far. Of Canadian teams that this past season qualified for playoff action, 3 (Canucks, Oilers and Jets) had been from the West. Of Eastern Canadian teams, the Leafs qualified while the Sens and Habs came nowhere close to qualifying. Not since the 2020-21 season, when all Canadian teams had been placed in a single division, have 2 or more Eastern Canadian teams qualified for playoff action during the same season. Maybe Linus Ullmark, who the Sens under 24 hours ago acquired from the Bruins in exchange for Joonas Korpisalo and the Bruins' own 2024 1st-round draft pick, will help provide his new team with solid goaltending unlike during the 2023-24 season with Korpisalo and Anton Forsberg.
