Do you get any swelling or stave movement via weather when you dont oil the inside?

how many hands of oil in each shell? is it the same in a ply shell ( number of oil hands)?

It has everything to do with the way the wood is used to make the drum. In a plywood drum many layers of thin wood are pressed together to make a cylinder, a Stave drum is made from solid pieces of wood arranged vertically in a circle that are glued together and then machine, a segmented drum is very similar to a brick wall. With all of the bricks being pieces of wood that are glued together and then finally machined into a cylinder

@@HHGdrums As a wood finish, tung oil is a penetrating oil - not well suited to musical instruments as it dampens vibration.... ?
