Bradley Cahill - Every concert was artistically brilliant in every way. The Halloween shows were epic! This particular video was on Halloween night because they used cutout puppets of children in the background so, the kids who usually are there to perform for this song could go trick or treating.

Thank you for posting this! I believe this was the concert I attended when I said, "If this concert is over after this 1st song, I'm happy and it was totally worth it!" Danny Elfman is a genious and this song just speaks on so many levels! (btw, I am a fan of country music but this is one of my favorite songs of all time!)

I dont know or care what he is singing. I likey. I grew up to boingo. Class of 1985. The 80's had the best music of any generation. Crue, Boingo, Clash, new wave, punk, metal, rock, nwa, thank you for posting. I used to see boingo at knotts berry farm on 10/31 every year

This was Danny Elfman's band before he started doing soundtracks (Every Tim Burton Movie, Men In Black, Fable). The songs are kind of humorous, but very dark at the same time. I just got into them recently, but they really are pretty amazing despite being so strange.

Oingo Boingo: the most stoked on stage band I've ever seen in 30 years of concerts ! More joy playing than Rolling Stones, Red Hot, U2, Maddona, Rush, Pink Floyd, The Cure, The Cult, Pet Shop Boys, etc, etc, etc... BOINGO kicks ass !!!

I went to this concert after winning tickets from X96 (local station in SLC). I regret that I didn't know their music before I went to this concert. Have been a fan since, and LOVED The concert.. I was the ONLY person who wasn't singing along to every song since I didn't know the words.. Halloween 95 will always be etched in my mind for this concert alone.

Saw their final East Coast tour at what is now the 9:30 Club in DC. Brilliant show, and a very friendly bunch of guys, they could kick it like few could. They were a rare moment of clarity, intelligence, and inspiration in a dismal couple of decades of music- and we need them now more than ever! Wish they'd do a reunion album and tour, but Danny has said that years of touring have pretty much destroyed his hearing. But I'd travel cross country to see them if it ever happened! Miss you guys...

There are times (like right now) when I play this vid full screen at full volume with headphones on. It's the closest I can ever come to acutally experiencing them live. The energy is amazing, I can only imagine what it must have been like to be there in person. I'm jealous of everyone who's seen them live. Still, no matter how often I watch their vids, the bassist will forever creep me the frell out.

I saw them twice, once when I was 13 (Chicago Club Metro, Boingo Tour) and then one week before this was shot on the Farewell Tour in 95 (I travelled 1600 miles to bid them adios). The video is great but....I cannot explain how good they really were. Major aftershow overdubbing? Nah, they didn't need it. The best live band I will ever see (and I have seen HUNDREDS).

I think the people talking about it being from the point of view of a psychopath are off. Danny himself was frustrated with Danny Quayle and the moral panic of the time, I feel the song is essentially from HIS point of view. He's angry at all of it, and he's sarcastically inviting them to cure him, it's a very sardonic song, he's essentially saying it's all madness, and he's achieving catharsis by writing about these extreme emotions.
@kiernan415
@kiernan415 6 жыл бұрын
Your assessment is spot on. Danny Elfman said pretty much the same thing in an interview circa '02. He really laid into the "morality police" that call themselves "christians". I wish I could remember who he was being interviewed by so you could look it up. The interview was mainly about his work on Tim Burton's films, but politics came up and he referenced this song. Peace.

Danny Elfman Not Only Has Hearing Loss He Also Has Complications With Malaria That He got From When He Was Touring In Africa So He Definately Wont Be Going To Concert Any More. But That Doesnt Mean He Wont Play For Schools Or Things Like That, He Will Always Be Doing Something With Music. He Is One Of The Greatest Misicians Of Our Time!!!

growing up in LA, the great thing was the Halloween oingo boingo concerts. I went to five, and they were all great. I also went to several others. Does anyone remember the Palladium show, when not five minutes after Danny warned the audience not to throw things onstage, he got hit in the face with a shoe, thrown from the far back of the mosh pit? I couldn't believe it! Anyone there for that? Being a true professional, Danny continued the show, with a fat lip. The guy who threw the shoe, got his!

He's been the only music I've been listening to for the past few weeks. I was a fan back around the time Good For Your Soul came out and I was about 16. I've always had a few songs of theirs in my various playlists over the years but it was more background music. I rediscovered them a few weeks ago when I realized I actually didn't have any Boingo in my current YTM playlists. I put together an all Boingo/Danny Elfman playlist and it's all I've been listening too. I'm even rediscovering songs I either never heard or just completely forgot. I also was unaware that Oingo Boingo performed live back then, I guess I thought they were purely a studio band. These concert vids are simply mind blowing. They take me back in time to the concerts I'd missed and I get to live vicariously through those kids in the front row. And even the songs sound different and the same and even better than before, they seem to reimagine the songs for that particular concert and make them sound like they just wrote them for that particular performance. It saddens me a little that I'll never be able to experience the live show personally. I'd love to be in LA waiting for Danny's Live concert, I'm sure I'd lose my mind. Maybe they'll make a concert vid for this one, I'd LOVE to see that 71 year old red-headed imp grinning at us as he teleports us into his mind for a party.

@RiotSk8Team001 I have to agree, this song disturbs me everytime I hear it and yet I usually have to listen 2 times in a row because I cannot get enough. The only song I can think of that rivals the creepyness is Peter Gabriel's "The Intruder". I recomend it highly, though it has totally different subject matter.

@TJae1 Naw, I'm too young, but I've heard it was amazingly awesome! And I can tell just by the energy these guys put off from the stage, it's like all the fans turn into 1 big pulsing organism type thing, all differences set aside for the one love of that music that they all share. That's kinda what it's like at a disturbed concert I've heard, but these guys are way over what disturbed can do.....
