The dad was also abusive because you can tell how Barbara backs up into the wall. He probably beat them into submission you know uses his strength to make them cower. Because if he was just mad at her there would be no reason for her to back up into the wall like she did but because she did that honestly shows that when he gets mad he hurts them. Which is honestly probably the reason why that they came to the conclusion to end their problems was with violence. Because that's how their father treats all of his problems is with violence or taking it out on other people.

What's so crazy is it's obvious Debbie looked up to and loved both her older sisters but you can tell she really trusted Barb. When Carol was about to kill her tadpoles she called out to Barb to stop her, when they were both pushing her into the lake she pleaded with Barb trying to reason with her. It's clear she understood that Carol could be impulsive and had a tendency to be mean but that she could always rely on Barb to be rational and help her. It's so sad that in the end Barb was actually the worse one.

Yes, they could’ve already been them in high school, but with their family moving every six months I doubt they’d have time to.

I doubt the cops, however incompetent they might be, would let Barb and Carol go after investigating around. The biggest proof was the buttons lying around, once they found that it's over for the sisters. I bet they were already waitresses in high school, and not long after killing Debbie they got into max. I still would love to see the parents reaction though, I mean I wouldn't know how to react knowing my youngest daughter, who I last saw a couple of hours prior and was supposedly left under my other daughters' care, is now a frozen corpse in the bottom of a lake, AND she was killed by none other than her sisters too.

@@westernhemlock sociopaths often develop personalities that any normal person would have to the normal eye they build up trust in others and thrive off of the pain when their trust is broken, eg barb when Debbie was killed. They give off a fake persona to others and will do anything to not be revealed to be their true selves. Psychopaths however do not care a bit about their 'public images' they thrive off people's pain known or not, they tend to inflict it physically while sociopaths tend to inflict it mentally and emotionally they're often isolated unlike sociopaths who can be witty and charming to the eye, but at the end of the day they can be maybe even more evil than a psychopath

I am the yeast of thoughts and mind that is completely wrong lol. Sociopaths can form connections and are more humane. Sociopaths are a product from their environment. While psychopaths are a product of brain damage. They can’t form any true connections with people and are more manipulative. Psychopaths are scarier.
@morganmiller63735 жыл бұрын
I am the yeast of thoughts and mind Honestly the differences between the two are pretty controversial among psychologists and some even consider them the same but with psychopathy being the more severe one. Some simply consider them one in the same. But I don’t even care about that, you were very rude and the original commenter did not deserve that.

As much as I loved these two I also hated them for what they did to Debbie 😐 Especially that Debbie would run to Barb when she needed her help or when she was afraid of Carol but she was too young to understand they're both evil.
@RexTheDinosaur15 жыл бұрын
Especially after Barbara knew that it wasn't even Debbie's fault that it was their parents pushing that life on Little Debbie. It's absolutely disgusting. Because Barbara was still happy that she killed Debbie even though she knew that Debbie wasn't behind any of it. That Debbie didn't even want do you like competitively more likely she wanted to do it for fun. Which means that Barbara purely out of the fact that she loves killing people. So most likely if they had not been caught she probably would have killed other people or gotten Carol to do it. Now Carol on the other hand she killed Debbie because she believed that Debbie was the means to end all of her problems and genuinely hated Debbie. She most likely wouldn't have killed someone else I don't think if they hadn't have been caught but like I said she could have been manipulated into killing other people because of Barbara. But Barbara definitely would have been as most likely a serial killer if they had not been caught.

I felt so sad for Debbie. The poor girl didn’t deserve such a brutal and callous fate. No one does. I think what this show does really well is depict how far sociopaths/psychopaths will go to get what they want, even at the expense of others. Carol and Barb got what they wanted. They didn’t have to move, but had to spend the rest of their lives in maximum security.
@treasuretvjackson80182 жыл бұрын
It also shows how small of a reason people may kill you for. These people have no empathy and thus no guilt and psychopaths can't feel fear or sadness, so this results in a lack of care. Unfortunately, some people will kill you for the tiniest of reasons when they're mentally ill. Don't forget, psycopaths are also impulsive.
@treasuretvjackson80182 жыл бұрын
Psychopathic individuals are considered to be impulsive, but impulsivity is a multifaceted construct (including positive and negative urgency, lack of planning, lack of perseverance, sensation seeking).
@treasuretvjackson80182 жыл бұрын
Impulsivity is thought to be a major component of psychopathy. However, impulsivity is a multi-faceted concept, and different facets may have differential relationships to psychopathy. The ventrolateral prefrontal cortex, which is related to self-control, could determine how well someone with psychopathic tendencies can control their impulses.

1:08-2:00 is such a great example of how acting and sound design can impact a scene and the audience's view of the characters. The song "Maniac" is playing in the background when we learn that Carol has been thinking about murdering Debbie for a while but hasn't acted on it yet (it is more fantasy than reality in her notebook). It isn't until Barb offers a serious perspective of how to kill Debbie (1:40) that both girls' insanity and willingness to actually murder Debbie is apparent to the audience. As the music swells right before the chorus (1:45), Carol's reaction shows the audience that the threat is now real and her desire to commit the murder is actually going to be fulfilled. The chorus "She's a maniac" also plays directly after both girls have decided Debbie's fate. The humming scene (6:33) which recalls the chorus demonstrates not only their mental state and lack of empathy for Debbie but also has the added importance of marking Debbie's last performance with the last moments of her life. Such amazing acting from all of these ladies!

My father ( the entire family members were not looking after me) spotted me when I was struggling for air, I tried to scream for my aunt( it seems the shortest word I could say on that moment) and when my father took me out of the water I was conscious. I learned to swim like dog style, always in places where my feet could touch the ground. I can swim across a pool, float, very very carefully, but the fear never leaves you.

"You're really going to stick the landing this time kid!" only a true psychopath will make a joke while killing their victim and Barb humming the song that was playing while they both decided to kill her? out of all the villians in this show those two were the real deal
@9252636 жыл бұрын
Nah, too comedic. Psychopaths? Absolutely. However, they were basically just psychotic children in the bodies of adults. Piscatella was an asshole, but he was easy to understand, given his past. Vee was the real deal.

The worst part is is that Barb knew that Debbie didn't want to leave that it was all their parents but yet she still killed her anyway. That's honestly one of the most sickening things of all and she was happy that she killed Debbie even though she knew that it wasn't Debbie's fault she just enjoyed killing her. Meaning she just love killing people in general. Which most likely means that if they didn't get caught Barbara probably would have killed other people or gotten Carol to do it.
@veledwin15 жыл бұрын
@@RexTheDinosaur1 I don't think it was that. I think she wasn't killing Debbie because she hated her like Carol did. But she knew that killing Debbie would mean not moving, and she simply cared more about herself and staying there than she did for her own sisters. I think it was easier to decide to kill her when she thought Debbie did want to move, but even when she found out that it wasn't the case, she still needed to kill Debbie to avoid moving (in her mind at least).

How evil. They could have just left home. They were old enough .
@jmie53 жыл бұрын
Absolutely evil & avoidable. It's not that they wanted to leave home, they wanted to stay; Barb had a plan and approval with another family but their abusive father physically and verbally threatened her if she did that. So, leaving home wasn't what they wanted. Staying behind may have gotten them hurt (or not, idk,) but 100% what they did to Debbie is the most chilling and sickening thing on this show. No reason it had to come to that -- it solved nothing. I mean, it made them feel better I guess but it was never her fault, wtf.
@bobbysfacts19812 жыл бұрын
@@jmie5 I blame the father. They had a breaking point and so the parents lost all 3 of their kids. 1 was killed and the other 2 behind bars. The parents lost out because they wanted better for the little girl at the expense of Barb and Carol. Goes to show you what could happen if parents favor 1 kid over the others. I'm not defending Barb and Carol did. What they did was wrong. Not sure if was avoidable or not. It was the 80's. 16 or 17yr old's didn't really have much say back then. I don't know the solution. The only other option they had was just had to keep moving whenever the abusive father said. They were trapped in a tough situation. Sometimes when a situation like that happens. I don't think they cared they lost. As long as the father didn't win either.
@jmie52 жыл бұрын
@@bobbysfacts1981 I got you, I'm not defending Carol or Barb either when I say that you're right about the shitty father. I can't say he's the reason that Debbie died, but if he had just let them *all* have a damn life, or at least let ONE of the 3 sisters go their own way like they asked (JFC, Barb had it all figured out they didn't NEED her) it would be different. He was abusive, you said it. Just what an ass.
