It's about his life story(Not necessarily his tho. He is speaking about things he wished he did right as a youth. He wished time could be rewinded so he wouldn't do those things he did as a youth. So he is advising children and the youth to do what is right before it is too late. He also added that had he met Jesus in his early years he wouldn't have done the things he did when he was younger. So that is basically the summary.

He is basically recounting on his past life on how he had wasted his youthful age.He is showing regret and remorsefulness for not making good use of his life and wasting all the opportunities such as school,traveling abroad and selling his land.He is therefore advising them to take their Education, life and Christ seriously so they do no end up just as him. So in the chorus he is saying; if he could turn the hands of time or become a child once again, he would not repeat those mistakes
