I agree, but believe me, the harmonies or the lead vocals don't work without Erick holding down the various flavors of tenor that he blows out. He changes notes depending on who is singing lead at the time. On the f.l.y. , and he does it without stepping on their vocals or riffs. It's a testament to his talent and professionalism.

I love both Eddie and Walter. Eddie has that power behind his vocals while Walter croons with his silky smoothness. When they first started, Eddie did most of the lead. When Gamble and Huff started writing for them, they saw that Walter would be a good ad lib singer for Eddie's lead. This changed when they saw that Walter could sing just as good as Eddie and they take turn with the lead and play off of each other. Normally, Gamble and Huff write for baritones. But Walter is the exception because his tenor voice along with the occasional falsetto is unique and it goes great with Eddie's powerful baritone vocals. These 2 guys can sing their butts off!
