This is my favorite MCU film! As you say, it has death. Death, consequences, and great characters. Most of the MCU is too focused on humor to instill this kind of gravity in the other films. This style is what a lot of the other movies could have benefited from using.

Hopefully helpful context: If u recall when Cap first rescues Bucky and the rest of the 107 in Captain America: The First Avengers, he finds him strapped to a gurney(?) repeating his name and serial number, a common practice taught to soldiers to keep them from giving away information during torture. It is heavily implied that Bucky was one of many that was being used as a lab rat to test out the newest version of the incomplete Super Serum that Zola was trying to tweak (the one that was modified after the Red Skulls dose didn’t go so well) This serum is the reason Bucky was able to survive the fall from the train, the harsh environment after the fall until he was found, the amputation of his arm, the replacing of said arm with his metal one, and most notably his related “brain wipes” and cryogenic freezing. The reason he’s not as old as Peggy is because Hydra would wipe his mind and keep him on ice until they could use him for a mission. Once that mission was accomplished, wipe, freeze, and repeat. It is also implied a little in this movie, more so in future ones, that one of the main reasons Hydra didn’t just brainwash Bucky and use him as much as they wanted was because his brain (helped by a Super Soldier Serum that included an increased healing factor) would recover from the brainwashing much faster than anticipated and he would start remembering things, Steve usually being first, and they would have to wipe him and start all over again. Freezing him was just easier in between missions. At the end of the movie Bucky does not know who Steve really is to him, but he has enough of a phantom memory to want to save him, even if he doesn’t know why. Also, the reason Nat didn’t stone cold die was because the badge isn’t what went off, she used one of her electric discs from earlier in the movie on herself, thereby short circuiting the badge. Painful yes, but she’s alive so 🤷♀️ But frfr this movies I’d def one of the top 3 in the MCU!!!!

The thing with Winter Soldier, and a large part of why it's SO FUCKING GOOD! Is that it's not a Super Hero Movie (not that those can't be good, mind), but a spy thriller that just so happens to have super heroes in it. @@WelchyYeah, that’s the best thing about Marvel movies. They may use their superhuman abilities throughout, but the story is usually not about those abilities. They don’t just take one element, turn it up to 11, and ignore the rest. Other than all the running from machine gun rounds, the action and combat scenes felt so tightly choreographed, there aren’t people standing back, patiently taking their turn to 1-on-1 the hero, they don’t just stand still and let the opponent do an elaborate somersault attack and junk; they’re actively fighting. And of course, probably one of the greatest car chases ever. The best part of the MCU is that it isn’t just made one movie at a time. They made an elaborate story starting from the first Iron Man. They eased us in, but they had an end goal to shoot for from the start. As it progresses (and you’ve seen snippets here), they start to reference other heroes more regularly in their solo movies.

The title actually has a double meaning. Yes, it references Bucky, but the term "winter soldier" actually goes back to Thomas Paine, an 18th century writer who supported the American Revolution. In his published works, he wrote about "the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot" (people who only stand up and fight for what's right when it's safe and easy), as opposed to "the winter soldier" (people who fight, even when things are hard). So, in that sense, Captain America IS the Winter Soldier.

Such a good film. Yes Fury’s line about “last time I trusted someone I lost an eye” is so stupid in retrospect, I love it. Fun facts about the film though: Chris didn’t have a body double for his running scenes due to his back being so flat, he just had to run the entire time because no double could mimic his posture. Chris and Sebastian’s hand-to-hand combat had to be choreographed to dance beats since Chris works best learning through dance. (It’s also the reason why he runs with that posture, it’s ballet posture) This film does always remind me of how fuckin good the Agent Carter show was though. You get some more time with Peggy and Stark, plus meeting Jarvis and the man Peggy eventually married. Only downside though is that the films do retroactively undo the entire show which is unfortunate because Peggy has some amazing on-screen chemistry. Plus if you want something that is genuinely more high stakes than an MCU movie, an MCU show is your best bet

I'm very glad that you're on this little MCU journey through Marvel's best movies. I really hope that you'll eventually react to Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. But before we get to those two, there are still some important (and more especially, good) films that you should watch if we ever get to that point. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the two movies that should usually be watched before you react to Captain America: Civil War, the next and, currently, last installment of the Captain America series, until the release of Captain America: Brave New World some time in 2024 (as long as the film doesn't get delayed). Although, Falcon is now the new Captain America, so Civil War is the last CA installment with Steve Rogers as Captain America, and yes, you were correct in saying that Falcon is the new Captain America. In fact, if you can believe it, Civil War is even better than The Winter Soldier, which places the film at third of the top 3 MCU projects, with the second being Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the highest rated Marvel film being Avengers: Endgame. Anyways, as I was saying, there's a second film to watch after The Winter Soldier that is heavily important to the events of Civil War, Avengers: Age of Ultron, the second Avengers film. I might've lied when I said that you got to watch some especially good films before you get to Infinity War and Endgame since Age of Ultron is the lowest rated Avengers film. So, it's pretty much up to you if you'd like to make a reaction to the film. Even if you don't make any video, I'd still HIGHLY reccommend watching it either way. I'm obviously not gonna give any spoilers but if The Winter Soldier was the movie for Captain America, then Age of Ultron was the movie for Iron Man (it's no spoiler in saying that Iron Man, as well as other superheroes, appear in Civil War). Both of these films heavily affected these respective characters to turn them into the opposite of what you'd expect to see from them in Civil War. So, even though Age of Ultron isn't the best, it's still *VERY* important to understanding Civil War and future Avengers films. It also helps with the introduction of new characters, it develops a certain part from the first Avengers film, and it picks up from the post-credits scene you saw with the Scarlet Witch. It's funny to see that you've reacted to The Winter Soldier and you said that you'll also watch Guardians of the Galaxy, because I recommended those two films in my previous comment on your Avengers reaction video. I guess if u wanna watch through the MCU by just reacting to the best films they got, it's not that big of a surprise that those two films are what everyone else seems to have recommended. So, I'm glad that I've got the same recommendations as everyone else. There's not really much more to talk about, as I can continue to recommend a couple more movies in your future MCU reaction videos.

"this movie has so much depth. This is what I wanted to see." Dude, you were about to watch Guardians of the Galaxy HAHAHAHAHAHA..... don't expect the depth but still my favourite (might have something to do with the music and the sass)

20:56 Black Widow used one of her own stun weapons to electrocute herself (since she knows it isn't enough to kill her, only knock her out) and short circuit the Hydra badge on her shirt that killed the other people. She did that to stop the Hydra member from having leverage (her life) over Nick Fury. Once Black Widow broke the Hydra badge, Nick Fury was able to shoot the enemy. Since you were wondering why she didn't die - she didn't get hurt by the Hydra weapon, just passed out from electrocuting herself. Think you missed what was happening in the scene so wanted to clarify.

This is 100% my favorite MCU film. I can always rewatch it, it doesn’t piss me off because of the insertion of current politics (because there’s none in it) fury is still a badass. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The only reason Bucky survived the train fall. If you remember in the first captain America movie. When Steve found him, they’d already started doing tests on him. They’d already given him a syrum at that point. Also yeah, it's hard not to get distracted by how damn hot and baddess they are (I’d 100% prefer the original pairing of Natasha and Bucky. But nope..)

The shield is made of vibranium, which absorbs the energy from whatever hits it, or it gets thrown at. If an ordinary man jumped out of a multi-story building and landed on the shield, I don't think they'd fare as well as a super soldier like Cap. Oh, you will see more of The Falcon, don't worry. YOU MISSED THE 2ND END CREDIT SCENE? GO BACK AND WATCH IT, NOW. IT'S BUCKY!! Great reactions.

best mcu film to me, most of the early ones were good and had a good balance of comedy and all the other stuff, then guardians of the galaxy was funny and well received and they started saturating the movies with jokes

Also if you look closely at the targeting system you can see Tony and I think Bruce being picked too ( also I think Dr strange too but I don't remember)
