Hallelujah! You reacted to it! And your reaction did not disappoint! 🎉This performance is as great as it is, because Elvis is showing off himself. I am so glad you got to see it. It is such a joy to watch. It is up there in my top three performances in no particular order. Thank you for checking it out. I sure appriciate it.

@@PzoThePlug And I LOVED it! I just knew you would like it after Trying to get to you and his funny moments. Cause' this performance is basically the perfect mix of those two. There is a bloopers video for the whole 68 comeback special with more moments of him just being himself as well 😊 Probably better to see some of the other songs first, though. But now you know of it.

Amazingly, I think Elvis was a little inconfident about himself and his performances! You can see that here, I think. But his wonderful self deprecating humor always came out and he was amazing to watch. I grew up watching him as a litle girl in the 60's and I still love watching him perform!

Hey Pzo , I am loving your Elvis reactions more and more, we knew you would get bit by the Magic of this beautiful Man, I was only 8yrs old when this came on,, me and my sister were sitting right in front of the Big console Tv, there was no remote control then,, you had to change the TV yourself, but , we weren't dare going to change the show that night, stay on the Elvis journey,, really appreciate you giving Elvis a second look after the first time you heard him, American Trilogy,, personally I love that performance, iconic memories for Elvis fans around the world. Elvis suffered from enormous stage fright his whole career. In fact he was too nervous to come out of his dressing room for the first of the sit down shows. The director, Steve Binder, said to Elvis he had to go out there, even if he only strummed his guitar once and said goodnight …. which is exactly what he did at the beginning. And Elvis wasn’t on anything other than adrenalin from nerves and his natural personality. Fire!

No there's people all where it's black on the sides and in the back. This was for an NBC television show and it's called Comeback Special because he was in the Army for 2 years and then he had movie contracts for 6 years so he hadn't sang in front of a live audience for 8 years. He was very nervous not knowing if his fans were still there and of course they were and the show was a huge success..👍✌️

I really love this part of the 1968 Comeback special. And it's called in the round when they do that and yeah there's a lot more people out there in the dark. I can't even imagine how much it must have cost to get seats up right close to that. And you notice it's mostly women but not completely. I'm not 100% sure but I think this might be the first song of that segment where they get him together with his original band that he had for so long before he just really got caught up in making all those movies for his asshole manager. And Scotty Moore was not only a friend to him, he was his guitar player for so long. And in fact that's his whole original band with one exception. Their original really nut ball Gonzo bass player Bill black died early and so of course he couldn't be there but they got another guy that they already knew in it jammed with some. But from what I've read, the timing of flying them in and they made this decision like for this part of the special kind of late in the game and just on the fly, and so by the time all the members of the band flew up there from memphis, they didn't even really have time to practice. They got to hunt out for just a bit in the hotel room first or backstage or something, and so when they're out there, they are literally trying to remember how they played songs together like 10 or 15 years prior to that. But they had done that so much when they were young that they were still quite ingrained. And I don't believe for a second that Elvis forgot the lyrics during that second stop. No way. They had just done the second guitar solo with Scotty and he kind of barely even slightly muffed the second attack in the second half of the solo and right before that Elvis was saying you got it you got it you got it! And they were all shouting at each other like they always had done when they were together as this really tight band forever. And then when Scotty muffs that attack although it's so slight nobody would even know hardly ever goes well you did have it! And they're just flipping each other shit. And it's right after that that he doesn't just stop cuz he forgot the lyrics, somebody says or does something and it might have even been in the audience in reaction to all that but I think it was another band member it's off camera, and it cracks him up, he just bursts out laughing and so the flow is already ruined so he stops it and I think he just comes up with this idea in the spur of the moment that he forgot the lyrics just to have a reason for the pause and now it's a chance to laugh with the audience and to kind of not his head toward his old friend and guitar player Scotty moore.
