YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I FORGOT ABOUT THIS CHANNEL HAHA! Definitely took me by surprise seeing it pop up on my home page. It's super cool to see your online music course finally available to everyone, I've been excited to see it since you've mentioned it in the Intruder breakdown stream on the LSE channel! Aside from that this video definitely released at a good time for me. Having a pretty long history with music but only having spent the past month or two delving into the world of music creation and composition through a DAW, I've gathered a basic understanding of mixing overall, however I've run into many instances of feeling stuck or lost with mixing-related problems within the few projects I've worked on so far. Given that most of my understandings of methods/proper usages of software and elements present in DAWs come from your content, I'm happy to see an explanation/lesson video about mixing made by you, as you seem to not only have extensive knowledge and history with many diverse forms/aspects of music production, but a strong understanding of how to communicate and teach those concepts and ideas with people in a proper and easy to grasp/understandable manner, even for those with very limited knowledge or exposure to the subject at hand. Huge congrats on this new online music school, really looking forward to seeing what comes of it once the first course launches, and very appreciative of how much your content has helped me progress and grow as a musician and learn more of the ins and outs of digital production, something I've wanted to do for a very long time but previously didn't have the resources to do so.

WOAH THIS CHANNEL'S COME BACK IN FULL FORCE HOLY SHIT THERE'S GONNA BE LESSONS!?!?!? FOR CHEAP(ish)!?!?!?!? this is so cool to see you branch out with your music stuff (i mean i know you were a private music teacher, so it's actually cool to see stuff like this become more public now!) and go beyond youtube and video games and stuff (not that you hadn't ANYWAY, but i hope you get what i mean) i am so excited for the future, and i can't wait to see what comes next!

Are you going to go more into depth with mixing in the QuickStartMusic courses?
@quickstartmusicproduction2 жыл бұрын
Very much so. The Intro To Mixing course is 39 lessons, about 6-7 hours of video.

What is the point of getting rid of the low frequencies on the synth if you can't here them anyway? Does it just make the mixing less confusing?
@quickstartmusicproduction6 ай бұрын
It actually takes up space whether you can hear it or not! All audio, whether audible or not, takes up space in your master channel, and will make the "ceiling" on your mix a lot lower. This is why sometimes it feels like you can't push your mastering limiter as hard without things mysteriously feeling "muddy" or "crowded". Clearing out this inaudible clutter goes a long way.

This video makes it seem like an electronic producer using a DAW doesn't listen to the levels of any new instrument or vocal track as he adds it to his composition. Eg. I start of with a guitarline, but the guitar has hiss but I just leave it there, saying to myself "I'll fix that when I do the mixing". Then I add my bass track and listen to both together but when I hear that the bass totally drowns out the guitar I just leave it as it is, saying to myself "I'll fix that when I do the mixing". Does anyone really work that way? Don't you do your mixing as you add each instrument track? All the stuff about increasing or decreasing low-end or high-end and compression etc seems good but seems like horrible, horrible drudgery that takes all the joy out of making music. I wish I had a producer to do all that for me.
