Creating a classic D&D tavern | Crafted Campaign: Part 1

In this video, I'll be creating a classic D&D party and a miniature medieval tavern. The party is based on the character sheets found in the Dungeons and Dragons: Dragons of Stormwreck Island starter box. The tavern is made from XPS foam and 3D printed bits. The medieval tavern is an essential terrain build for RPGs and can also be used for different building interiors by swapping out the scatter terrain.

I build things too, but I use what one might call trash and repurpose things for my builds. I'm working on a Tavern for DnD my wife has named The Witch's Tit, lol but I'm using cardboard and the material from a 6 pack of beer, and because someone tossed out a multi picture frame as one cell was cracked i was able to salavage 4 cute little windows for my tavern made of real glass I plan to make stained glass look. I'm also using popsicle sticks and toothpicks, and i dont have a 3D printer...I am my own 3D printer lol, anyway i enjoy your story telling builds that even though I build differently than you, I like your channel so subscription earned and thumbs up always from me!!! I hope your channel grows!!! ❤️ 👍

Really enjoy the painting and color choice in your builds, everything looks really warm and earthy. Very cozy. I probably wouldn't have the patience for laying out the floorboards like that, I tend to just engrave all my flooring with pencil and comb and sculpting tools and such.

Your style is hands down my favorite of anyone I've come across. Your builds look so CLEAN and have this sort of... cartoon realism? To me it is the absolute perfect aesthetic for tabletop gaming. Does the new terrain template for this include scale of the windows, floors planks, etc? I think you are running 32mm scale from the looks of it, but without clear size measurements I always tend to cut things too small. With respects to the windows; it looks like you just stacked two of the "medieval windows" from Thingiverse you used in the Potion Shop Build? I'm guessing just pop the STL in software and stack two of em?

Hey Mittens, really glad to hear that! And that's right, my builds are 32mm scale. I made sure to include the dimensions of everything within the plans. Including window size. planks, etc. For the windows, the creator on Thingiverse uploaded a stacked version.

I watched this video yesterday, and I had to rewatch it today because I noticed that I had NOT noticed something previously: The music! I'm so happy that you,​ @Okay Hobby Time chose this music for the background instead of the previously used music. I don't know if you read my comment in the elemental mineshaft-video, but the music you used here goes so well with building a tavern that I didn't notice the change at first. And I think that's what you really want, just something in the background that enhances and suits the mood and theme. Perfect choice, in this video. And great build as always. I wasn't sure making the floor beams using foam would work, but it certainly looked stable in the end. I'm also always surprised at how well the wood textures looks after painting, but have you thought about ways to make it more effectively? Is it possible to hook a crooked fork to the device or something?

Hey Soylent, I was meaning to get back to you earlier. I saw it and it was very helpful-thanks! I'm also thinking how I could speed up the wood process. I think I'm used to it by now though. The benefit of doing fewer lines at once is that I can modulate the depth with each pass so it's more random looking.

I was curious... I usually remove supports before curing. Is there any advantage to curring first?

I prefer removing supports with my bare hands to have more control and also save on gloves. I always submerge the cured models in hot water so they become really easy to remove, almost like the uncured state. I was thinking of doing a video that demonstrates my full process.

Hahaha. I really don't like removing supports with gloves. I'd rather cure them first and barehand remove the supports. I let the cured models sit in really hot water first. The supports come off very easy.

Hi there, I use an Anycubic Proton Mono with Anycubic's grey resin. I mix a bit of Siraya Tech Tenacious into my anycubic resin bottles to add some durability.

That floor's got some pretty significant sag iin the middle... I'd add something to the bottom to strengthen the whole thing, otherwise you're just begging to have an unfortunate accident

Hi Jay, it's the nature of using foam. The build is surprisingly durable and is no where near the breaking point though-just a bit flexible.

It's similar to drybrushing but with more paint. The goal is to cover everything but the deepest recesses. This creates variation / shadows in the paint job.
