I grew up with Jim Croce and he was a favorite of everyone! His story telling skills were clearly above and beyond all others. My friends and I couldn't believe it when he suddenly died. I remember my entire school of classmates just kind of moped around for several days and the radio stations were playing Jim's songs...all of them that were already out...over and over. It was likened to another day that the music died. After that, I think most everyone I knew could just about sing the words to every song he had. He was and still is Loved with a capital L. - Su

@OkayRickk Oh gracious! I love this song! When my oldest son, now 26, was a little boy we exposed him to so much old music and he went to 1st grade singing this song. Another one lost way too soon. He was only 30 years old. On the night of Thursday, September 20, 1973, during Croce's Life and Times tour and the day before his ABC single "I Got a Name" was released, Croce and five others were killed when their chartered Beechcraft E18S crashed into a tree during takeoff from the Natchitoches Regional Airport in Natchitoches, Louisiana. His son was almost 2.
