She had to film this right after she rushed to the hospital to say goodbye to her best friend who died of cancer but had just missed the chance because her friend died right before she got there. Those are her real tears.

@@whatupjxy by twice I meant two occasions ( i did say performances used in the film , plural indicates multiple takes ) but two occasions, the studio sessions and filming day . Now I didn't know she sang the full number on set as a friend of mine who also attended the filming said she couldn't finish , but also the crowd couldn't hear the sing as the amplifiers were turned off to stop the songs being leaked. Sorry for misunderstanding, I should've worded it better . But she has not sung this song since the day of filming and does not intend to

She filmed this scene (the performance in the blue dress) right after her best friend died from breast cancer. She missed seeing Sonja in her last moments by a few minutes. Sonja's husband told Gaga to go back to set and use those emotions to film the final scene...a scene about losing someone. The emotion is so genuine and raw. Love Lady Gaga so much.
