One of my favorite songs in history. Me and my pawpaw had this conversation, and his perspective changed my life. The main part that always hit for me was, "Did daddies really never go away?" because my dad was arrested right in front of me when I was 4. The officer came and took him away, then proceeded to leave me alone at home without an adult. My pawpaw is the one who got me into music, and he's the reason that I am still so passionate about it. I love and miss him so much, and I never even got to say goodbye...

Sad story I wanna share with y’all. I heard this song for the first time on March 27 2024. My grandpa had just been put in hospice the night before. At 9:01 am I received a call from my mom that my grandpa had passed. At first I was just in shock without realizing what truly happened. It wasn’t until I call my dad to inform him that I completely broke down. My sister and her boyfriend sped to pick me up so we can go to the hospice place together to meet up with my mom. On the ride over there as we got on the highway this song started playing. The moment I heard the first line I broke into tears quietly in the back seat. I began to remember all the fishing trips he took me on as well as almost convincing me to become a truck driver like he was. I truly believed he played that song for my sister and I to tell us to remember the good memories and that he was in peace. In may sound bitter but his death gave me a sense of relief. He had already began showing sign of liver failure leading up to his death. The weeks before I could see he wasn’t his usual jokester self. We had cancelled a fishing trip because he felt under the weather. A part of me is tearing at me for not trying to convince him harder to go. That said the few hours he was in hospice was the most peaceful we saw my grandpa sleep. He was finally comfortable. He waited till his brother (my uncle) and my mom had left the room to pass. My uncle had barely left the room to get coffee. I’ll forever miss him. I love you grandpa 1964-2024
