Well we gotta consider that a lot of this is part of their setting, so it's hard to differentiate which parts are influenced by their actual real backstory. As we all know the "bakery" is just a stand-in for Korone's real day job. But I do believe the details about how Korone was a shy introvert and how Okayu approached her so casually. In fact it is always the details that Okayu focuses on that show how close she is to Koro-san. Her laugh, her jokes, her weird humor, her throat clearing, her little idiosyncracies... Okayu always seems to associate strong emotions with these details, which is generally a sign of a deeper connection. This stream also reminds me that Korone's first stream came after and she basically begged for Okayu to save her and wanted to end it early. Such a poor, yet precious doggo. The anxiety seems to have calmed down considerably over this year of exposure and I am glad that Koro-san can now stand on her own two feet again. She has supported many of the other members by now and makes a great senpai. Perhaps if the time is right, Koro-san will be the one to help Okayu again instead.

@@Chuito12PR According to what we know Korone streams at night and works during the day. She barely sleeps. I am fully aware that Korone helped Okayu out in the past when she was in a bad place. This is common knowledge at this point. It's obvious why Okayu adores Koro-san so much because of that. But since their Hololive debut Korone has been relying on Okayu a lot more than the other way around from what we are privvy to. I am just saying now that Koro-san has gotten her confidence and stable place in Hololive she can lend Okayu a shoulder again, because Okayu has recently shown signs of being a bit lost.

I only realize how important this part is, within the context. Okayu debuted a mere week before Korone. This means that Okayu's exposition bit here is essentially the first time we get to hear about Korone. Okayu introduces Korone to us ahead of time. Then, one week later, Korone gets a really awkward debut. Her BGM is creepy, her display resolution is bugged and tiny, she name-dropped a staff member, the infamous 156m typo, and overall she was too shy to introduce herself properly. Instead of spending time with her chat so they could get to know each other more, she let Okayu in to help her out with some technical stuff and for moral support, and then the rest of Gamers came over to play Splatoon. So, some things here. What we knew about Korone from her debut is about as much as what Okayu says here. Okayu saved Korone a lot of trouble by doing this backup-exposition, possibly knowing that Korone's debut might not cover enough from Korone's shyness. Second, she came over to help Korone out even if she was only one week in from her own debut. So Okayu's little stream problems here (being slightly less than chill and being a bit too loud and all) probably still persisted into Korone's debut, so she wasn't exactly relaxed by that time either. Korone hadn't even been introduced to us and Okayu does her best friend a solid, absolutely preparing the way for her. On her own debut, the first time she goes out to the public as Okayu. In hindsight, she had probably saved Korone from having a much rockier start. OkaKoro had been there from the beginning, and their long-running friendship is probably one of the best things in Hololive.

@@siamshikdar I won't post the channel for privacy reasons, but while it is true that Korone had prior experience. The channel was basically like a coop channel with Korone and Okayu and so Korone had Okayu to rely on for pretty much every video. Compared that to her Hololive debut where she's basically semi-solo except for the occasional collab and you can kinda see why she was so nervous. I also remember Korone or maybe Okayu had talked about why they didn't do some streams together for a while and that was because Korone wanted to able stand on her own without having to use Okayu as a crutch all the time and would only do an actual collab when she was good. It's pretty crazy to think about because that decision was basically what has taken Korone so far and also taken her to 1 Million subs.

Man, seriously thank you for sharing this. This really explains a lot. As someone who literally fell into the vtuber rabbit whole a couple months ago, I was basically on the surface level of things when it came to the friendships of Hololive. At first, I thought "Oh well that's a little over the top" whenever I saw a video about how nice and wholesome their friendships were (e.g OkaKoro or Korone and Miko's friendship etc.). But after 1 or 2 videos (and a dozen more, eventually lol), I realised how wrong I was and how closely-knit they actually are (some moments even brought a tear to my eye). This is more than just CGDCT, you're actually watching wholesome relationships of wholesome people, served with video games on the side and a sprinkle of laughter on top.

This perspective is a little on and off. Okayu and Korone might have lived in different places before meeting. Korone has a distinct accent that has been attributed as some form of Kansai-ben, which Okayu lacks. Okayu does have a grandmother she lives with, she has been heard snoring in the background of some streams (dunno source but it's in the vtuber fandom wiki). And we're pretty sure that Okayu and Korone have been pretty long-time friends before Hololive. Even if we knew the truth, I'd say this is still pretty anime. Sure, there may not be sweet potatoes, onigiri, or bread involved as details, but probably Okayu was telling a guarded, but still partly truthful version of how she met Korone at some point.

Korone's character is so well done, and the actress behind her fits her so well. Like, sorry to break the 4th wall, but I just really dig what they do with her. Even her small little behaviors remind me of how actual dogs are. You know how some are kinda shy when they first meet you, but once they warm up they're all over you? It's very cute, just like how Korone and Okayu met.

Honestly I think this is a rare case of the actress behind Korone not so much acting but more so being really well cast. If you watch Korone's debut it's pretty clear that besides her shyness she is pretty much the same in and out of character. Because to be blunt Korone's debut was a trainwreck, so much so she panicked part way through calling for Okayu to save her then later their manager sends the other Hololive Gamer members to do an impromptu collab stream because they were so worried for her. Hell she came in with creepy music and metal music as her "calm" bgm. They were the kind of quirks that even caught all but Okayu off guard so it wasn't planned.

It messes with me sometimes how the real people behind this mesh with their characters. I thought maybe Korone actually owns a bakery, which I'd be happy about cause I think it's really good for these kinds of internet personalities, like let's players and streamers, to invest in some kind of business or alternate income source, like how Jacksepticeye has his Cloak clothing line, Vanoss with his music and I think other projects. Then Okayu says she owns an Onigiri(?) shop deep in the mountains and I'm like "Oh, this is probably their characters, not really them". I do hope that if they make really good money streaming and/or from Hololive, they invest it towards something in case streaming is no longer a viable source of income for them. A lot could happen, like there was a bit of a scare recently, right? There were claims being taken against them by companies cause Hololive didn't get proper permission for them to play their games and what not, or am I remembering it wrong?
