Honestly, what a hallmark of a simpler time. No fancy editing, not the greatest camera, just four guys, a banger song, some treadmills and a butt ton of creativity. Respect. Now and forever.

@@Rocinantie No. Seems to be something all the kids these days who were born during youtube don't understand. VEVO didn't exist until 2009. It was created by UMG, SME and EMI. Since they have a huge share of pretty much all music, most songs ended up being uploaded to youtube under them in 2009. Older songs from their catalogue were also added as soon as the service launched. EMI don't exist anymore, but at the time those 3 and WMG were the biggest record labels. That's why almost everything was on youtube under VEVO.

I still love coming bavk to this and marveling at the choreography
@penguinjay Жыл бұрын
limitations BREED creativity. It's why films were better when there was limited CGI. Smaller stories are better films. I look back at 1990 TMNT and think about that all the time. It was filmed in my area, I knew some of the spots it was filmed and could go see them even. I don't think that movie would have been good with full budget, bigger cast, or CGI. The limitations imposed on them is what made the editing of that one so stylish and cool. 3+ different people have to know and agree on a single character. There's this first person rage charge scene where Raph rescues April, it's so damn good, it makes me cry. I'm glad they had to work around the turtles and they couldn't linger on them and have them looking like muppets and animatronics and costume. That's one of my favorite sequences ever the subway rescue, and it would not come out that way if we had the CGI and budget of a modern film. They were shooting the TMNT movie almost like the Eastman and Laird comics, very stylishly shot, but this was in large part bc they had only practical effects and couldn't linger or show off cool looking turtle costumes for longer than a few seconds, the whole picture just had to speak for itself, every little detail stuck in for the audience to find. Can't just make cool CGI action and call it a day like Michael Bay. It actually had to be good. Limitation breeds creativity. The film industry is all but dying since they hardly have any limitations anymore.

It's all one take with a clearly practiced routine, but one guy almost trips and it stays in the final cut. The background is basic and no-one is wearing matching clothes, but the choreography is amazing. You can tell someone in the band or the crew just saw two treadmills one day and had the coolest idea, it's just a bunch of guys being dudes.
