I have one of these too same model number, it acted like that right out of the box!, returned it got another one and 2 years later i'm still using it and have never had another problem I love this printer!

I had the same problem. The reason was that the software defaults to size A4 instead of letter size. After the first print - it realizes the size mismatch and shows an error. You clear the error and it resets, prints and shows the next error. The solution is simple. Make sure that the default page size is letter size and check before printing - that it is in fact set to letter size. Silly stupid problem!
